Reliable/honest valuation source

#1

Post by MustangGlocker »

Years ago, I inherited a Colt Police Positive .38 Special 4” that appears to have been manufactured in 1912 based on the serial number. Besides Gun Broker, what resource could honestly and reliably place a value on this pistol for insurance purposes.

Thanks in advance.

The price is a huge range from Gun Value. It starts at $299.00 to $530.00. I am assuming the condition has a lot to do with it.

Thanks for that link. Those seem fairly reasonable. It’s tough to think about putting a value on something that is to me, priceless.

I second Carlson's recommendation for Truegun value.

Find an appraiser locally, One alternative is the Blue Book of Gun Values. They offer a service where you send them photos and fifty bucks and get an appraisal. https://bluebookofgunvalues.com/appraisals

For a more accurate appraisal I suggest finding a someone who is qualified and can appraise the firearm in person. The only qualified person I would ask is in Friona Tx.
