Last week i picked up a Springfield Ronin operator 1911 4.25 45acp
finally had a chance to do some range time with today
it has the alloy frame with the forged slide.
it is about 3 oz lighter than my 1967 colt 1911.
noticeable but not really that much in the world of 8 rounds of 230 grain items sitting in the magazine
my only issue is its point of aim, its a 6 oclock aim and my 1967 1911 is dead on if both sights are in its what i call zero
so its taking me a bit to gather back up when i switch around.
it makes me shoot low by about 1/2 inch at 20 feet
other than that, it is broken in a bit and feels good but needs better grips than the wooden ones it came stock with
edit...the point of aim issue has to be 100% user error, as in i was anticipating
so its practice practice practice on this new fishing lure.

Re: new fishing gear disguised as a springfield 1911
ok
i screwed up
went to range this morning to figure why i was messing up so bad with point of aim
at 30 feet i used my trusty army target that tells on you real fast
yep i was anticipating and allowing the pistol to float withing my grip, it has a skinny grip compared to the other 1911 with good pac rubber grips
new set is on order for the ronin.
felt much better after i started dialing it in
and the sign backer board made it even more entertaining

Sounds like a good day on the range! I knew there had to be a good use for those old signs!
