Re: Things I Learn From Newbie Shooters
there's that sense of self establishment, so nothing i say is going to change your mind. my feelings aren't getting hurt over gun control, i just get irritated at ignorant statements like this. but if thinking this is what helps you sleep at night, then by all means go for it.AndyC wrote:Sorry if you don't like facts and I don't want to sound rude, but I really don't care if your feelings get hurt when it's an issue of gun safety. Let me say it again quite clearly:TAMU_12 wrote: to just say we are the worst group when it comes to gun control just seems blatantly disrespectful.
As a group - and in a group - college-age kids are absolutely the worst gun-handlers bar none.
college students are not the worst gun-handlers. people uneducated in gun safety and proper handling or people with closed minds are.

I guess AndyC doesn't work near TAMU!!!!AndyC wrote:"Ignorant"
You've missed the point. As I said, some college-age kids are perfectly fine - so it's not aimed at them as individuals. I really hate generalizations as a rule, but my statement is a result of actually seeing it every weekend and having to deal with the consequences of their actions - the fact that you don't like it doesn't make it any less true *shrug*
I doubt that I'm the only one who has seen a group of ignorant, arrogant frat-boys at a range who act as if firearms are just fun toys that have zero consequences - so yes (and here I'm going to emphasize my point yet again in case you don't understand plain English), as a group, college-aged kids are the worst group - next worse are old men.
Get over yourself and have a nice day.

thats a great way, to say it and in those regards i agree with you.AndyC wrote:"Ignorant"

but for hating generalization, you sure do it a lot. i'm also in a fraternity and my friends that i talked about are also in it...its just starting to sound like you were the kid that got picked on in college and now you have something against Greeks.AndyC wrote:I doubt that I'm the only one who has seen a group of ignorant, arrogant frat-boys at a range who act as if firearms are just fun toys that have zero consequences - so yes (and here I'm going to emphasize my point yet again in case you don't understand plain English), as a group, college-aged kids are the worst group - next worse are old men.
just shows that maturity doesn't come with age.AndyC wrote:Get over yourself and have a nice day.
its real aggravating that i'm excited to get my CHL in and decided to join the forum, and this is the first thing i find.
no, he's about three hours north of me. but that area explains a lot.TDDude wrote:AndyC wrote:I guess AndyC doesn't work near TAMU!!!!

honestly man...its water under the bridge. like i said earlier, life would be way too boring if there wasn't someone to butt heads with sometimes.AndyC wrote:You're really going to play the jealousy-card? Here's the deal: I wasn't raised in the USA - so I don't have any axe to grind concerning fraternities, Greeks or anything else. All I'm concerned with at the range is how you handle your firearms - period.
You take yourself way too seriously - perhaps this was too subtle for you, but at 46 I'm probably in the second-worst category myself - that of old men. I don't take it personally that many in my particular category are terrible at gun-handling (it's just simply a fact) - so speaking of maturity, why are you getting so bent out of shape about what ignorant people do? Chill out - you'll give yourself a heart-attack before you graduateTAMU_12 wrote: just shows that maturity doesn't come with age.
We'll make sure we only say things with which you agree, yassuh.TAMU_12 wrote:its real aggravating that i'm excited to get my CHL in and decided to join the forum, and this is the first thing i find.
All the above nonsense aside - it's nice to have a responsible young gun-owner on board, so welcome and I hope you get your CHL quickly
thanks, i appreciate it. i'm just tired of waiting now. i took the class with three of my friends and two of theirs are already in the mail. i hate looking at my glock on my desk and having to wait to suit up with it. oh well, patience is supposed to be a virtue or something like that.

Re: Things I Learn From Newbie Shooters
thats awesome. i love 1911s and i was going to carry one, but it was out of my budget. i plan on getting one once i graduate.AndyC wrote:One thing I've learned about Glock owners is....
Kidding - we have a healthy Glock vs 1911 thing going here
Carry in good health and here's hoping you never have to use it; it's not fun
thank you, i pray that i don't either. but i'd rather be prepared if necessary.

You can get a new Rock Island for 365 at one of the gun shows. Far superior to the Glock..(stirs the pot then runs)

my buddy has a rock island 1911 and likes it. but for now, i decided to go with the glock. once i get a 1911 i think i'll be looking at a springfield.rm9792 wrote:You can get a new Rock Island for 365 at one of the gun shows. Far superior to the Glock..(stirs the pot then runs)
but even that friend w/ the rock island just bought a glock 19! (continues to stir the pot)

I'd like to think we're not in the old man group yet Andy. We might very well fit into any number of other groups, but not that one yet.
