I have trouble lifting and aiming a shotgun for long and I'm a fairly strong woman. I think a full size XD or XDm is something she should try out at a range if possible. I could not get a correct grip on the double stack glocks, but the XDm has three choices that come with it for the backstrap. The small one fits my hand very well. I have a 9 mm 3.8 and my husband has a .45 in the full size barrel in the XDm. I can tell you it has less felt recoil than my 9. The safety features make it a better choice too in my opinion...not to step on any glock fans. Just my thoughts for what it's worth.

I was thinking of something along this. CompVest on the board teaches a Ladies only class. You may want to get with her about this. As for choosing a firearm, only your friend can choose what fits her comfortably. You can give her suggestions, but she will be the one making the final decision.
