I think that the intent of the exclusion would pertain to handguns which also fall under prohibited weapons. Even so, the issue would have to be settled in court. You may beat the rap but you won't beat the ride. If my handgun is not "enough" protection I don't see having a large knife or baton as helpful.

There is something to this though, just because you have a firearm on you doesn't mean it should be your only force option, because deadly force isn't always authorized or the answer.

For me it is training, the force option continuum compels me to make sure I have a less lethal option on me as well.

When your only tool is a hammer, all problems become nails.

I agree I was only making the point that if a situation required the use of deadly force, which the use of ether a club or knife would potentially constitute, I would rather not have the added weight to carry around in addition to the fact that even as a LTC holder I could possibly be arrested and charged with carrying a prohibited weapon, it was simply not worth the risk.

I agree, thinking more along the lines of the smaller pepper sprays for joggers, etc. sometimes watching someone roll around in searing pain because they got spray painted orange is amusing, stupid hurts.

I agree, my gun belt is heavy, so on my time I want as little extra weight as possible.

46.01 and 46.02 do a pretty good job of mentioning what are not allowed.
