Added to that is that each projectile is only 1/3rd the weight of the original bullet. In the case of .45 ACP, a 230gr bullet breaks up into three 76gr "flying wings". How much penetration do you think you'll get from that light a projectile, flying at maybe 850 fps and hitting the target broadside?

No thanks. This stuff makes a neat pattern when it hits a paper target, but it's just going to tick off a real BG.
Exactly what I was saying, except. The center projectile has some of the original mass too, so 1/4 of 230 = 57.5 and the mass of the string, alothough light, would have to be taken into account.

And then some of the energy of the projectile is expended spinning the ends out, rifling can't do it all, watch, in the upcoming Olympics, how spinning figure skaters slow down, they extend their limbs, and pull them in tighter for faster rotation.

A neat idea, very glitzy, but still a solution looking for a problem.

Using this ammo the guy will kill even less elk than before and strew the countryside with wounded animals. Projectile placement is key to taking down any large game animal, just like self defense shooting to take down a BG. But you all know that! Someone show this guy a shotgun patterned with buckshot, no strings attached!

Watch the video and then look at the hostage target. It shows a two foot separation of the projectiles, and on the hostage target he shot the bad guy, but the other two pieces were off to the right, missing the hostage that was on the left. But if you look at other targets, often a hit results in two of the pieces going left, and in the case of the hostage target would have resulted in the hostage being struck.

This ammo is not good for anyone carrying for self defense.

That's the exact same thing I was thinking, it seem like this round would be horrible in close quarters or tight spaces.
