You can wear a sleeveless shirt in Texas without a license or waiting period.

P.S. Heller was about keeping a handgun at home, not carrying it in public.
That was what the narrow decision was about but the opinions published in a 100+ page document stated that individuals have the right mentioned. Also, when writing letters to organizations, lawmakers, etc please use spelling and grammer checkers, using the wrong words or misspelling words lessens the point you are trying to make. These are lawyers usually and words you use mean a lot to them and convey more meaning than you might have intended. Chat rooms and newsgroups are more of a casual conversation type environment and more laxity is expected on them.

Thanks, I needed the spelling police today, apparently.

I know what Heller said, and I've read every thread here and in other places on the subject. Heller affirmed that the 2nd amendment applies to individuals, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what the 2nd amendment says.

My question for the TSRA is: are they going to fight the fight that needs to be fought?

They may not make lots of noise but they seem more successful at getting results than most other gun organizations.

IIRC, we had nine issues before the legislature in 2007.

Eight were passed, with the parking lot bill being the only exception.

TSRA definitely gets more done close to home than the NRA does.

That is not to say that we shouldn't support both!

I don't think we'd all be here if it wasn't for the TSRA.

Exactly!

TSRA has done a tremendous amount for CHLs. Getting the CHL law passed in the 1990's was a very big deal. Getting the CHL renewal pushed out from 4 to 5 years saves us time and money in the long run. Texas "Castle Doctrine" legally protects us in case we are ever in the unfortunate situation of having to use our gun(s).

As CHL's, being a dues-paying member of TSRA is just giving back a portion of what the TSRA has already given us.

There's a saying in Washington... "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu!". Organizations like the TSRA and NRA make sure that as gun owners we have a seat at the state and national legislative table. Without that seat, we are lost.

I checked the TSRA web sight and can't seem to find the price for a life or endowment membership. I found the application, but not the price.

Life is $400 and Senior Life (65+) is $200. Endowment is $700 and Benefactor is $1000. https://www.tsra.com/formmembership.html

I just joined the TSRA and made a payment towards my NRA life memberships. I plan to become a life member of the TSRA but the finances are not in the right place at this moment. :txflag:

I got my rebate coupon in the mail and next payday I will start my upgrade to NRA LIfe membership. I will upgrade my TSRA membership as soon as possible. I have my son and daughter as NRA members and trying to get them in the TSRA. I encourage everyone I meet each day to join the cause of FREEDOM and become an NRA member.
This is the only way we will be able to keep our country. If we just stand by, the liberal elite will slowly take away all of our rights and freedoms.

charles, thanks for sharing this. When I can gather my thoughts enough to formulate a response I think i'll rant in a video about it.

I'd like to remind everyone that Taurus is offering a free NRA membership with each Taurus purchased. Details are on their website at www.taurususa.com .

On another note, the wife has forbidden me to spend any more bucks on hobbies (guns or fishing) until after we move. Been saving up to move for a while and not gonna happen till October. If anyone has a nice simple web site project they'd like me to take a look at in exchange for a Life TSRA membership I'd be willing to do some horse trading. I've essentially shut down my side business due to lack of interest (on my part) but my site is still up there. look at http://www.sangstergraphicdesign.com . Shoot me a pm if you'd like to do business.

Heck, might also consider doing some web work for trade on other stuff too. I just hate dealing with billing clients.
