Re: If Liberals win White House...
I found these online
https://www.agparms.com/product.php?pro ... 258&page=1
There was a guy at the Pasadena gun show selling A2 uppers for a little over $200 bucks, and with a decent trigger group thats another $80
So to build your own it would have run you about $400-475

Much to my chagrin, there is a strong probability the Dems will gain control of the White House and we will see another "assault" weapons ban along with other gun control measures. These semi-autos will be at the top of the list.
As I've become more familiar with this weapon, it's my go-to home defense gun. The center of the light beam is close enough to iron site center that aiming is not an issue in night time close quarters situtations. 30 rounds of high velocity 5.56 is probably very effective in stopping any threat in my home. The only problem is there are so many neat toys you can adorn these things with. I have my eye on an Aimpoint sight at the moment.
This is a Bushmaster Patrolman Carbine - Texas Edition
how do you like the 'Texas Edition" Bushmaster? Can you give a report?

True about the noise, but consider the alternative. I'll take my chances with the noise.frankie_the_yankee wrote:Man, I'd hate to fire one of those indoors. I'm not sure if an AR is louder than a 12 ga. But the .223 Rem round has a very sharp "CRACK" kind of sound that I find quite painful, at least out of my Mini-14. I find a 12 ga. easier to take myself.

The alternative isn't to be victimized by a home invader. It's to use a 12 ga. for home defense. That's one alternative anyway. For my own part, I'll stick with my handguns, but that's just a personal preference.Mike from Texas wrote:True about the noise, but consider the alternative. I'll prolly stock up on high capacity mags and some lowers. I just bougt 4x Glock 33 rounders for $19 apiece and 4x 32 round Uzi mags. Looks like the price is still good on the Glock mags. I paid about $35 apiece for my previous ones.

I'm not too worried about it though as even if they do take over the WH, gun control has been a real loser in the past for the Democrats. Bill Clinton has been quoted as saying that gun control issues have cost them elections. This is not to say that they won't try anything though. I can imagine though if something is announced that there will be runs on everything and prices will shoot thru the roof like last time. The sad part is all the smaller companies that will suffer and end up closing down.

I'm more worried about McCain. Republicans in congress will probably vote against a Clinton gun ban. They'll probably vote for a McCain gun ban.

Re: If Liberals win White House...
If liberals win the White House they will definitely maintain control of the congress. So the Republicans can vote any way they want and they are likely to be outvoted.tarkus wrote: I'm more worried about McCain. Republicans in congress will probably vote against a Clinton gun ban. Whatever clouds might be on the horizon if McCain wins, you can multiply them by 10X if Hillery or Obama wins.
Don't kid yourself otherwise.
And in either case, the fate of our gun rights will be in the hands of the small group of pro-RKBA Democrats that were elected in 2006.
The difference is that McCain is unlikely to propose any new gun control laws, while Hillary / Obama are almost certain to.
So vote for a Democrat, or vote for "Slow Wheat", or stay home, and watch your 2A rights wither and die.

Absent an act of God, the leftists have already won the White House. Based on recent voting records, McClinton may as well be a Democrat.
Any truth to the rumor he'll name one of his Keating 5 buddies as his running mate?

Purchased from CMMG. Mine is the non chrome lined version. The chrome lined for a few dollars more is definitely worth considering. In my case I'm anal about cleaning so wasn't a worry. Shipping is a little slow (3 1/2 weeks from order to receipt by my FFL) as they are basically giving you a heck of a deal. They say they are "used" but in reality they are not from everything I've read/seen. Wasn't a mark anywhere on mine and every part was shiny and new. Read what others have said over at AR15.com on the CMMG Bargain Bin specials. Everyone has been extremely happy so far. At the end of the day I wanted a basic M4 for my first AR-15. Didn't want it to be anything fancy just functional. I couldn't build one for the same price basically so I went with the bargain bin deal.
Took it to the range yesterday with a cheap iron sight from Cheaper Than Dirt and was rather impressed... I'm far from a marksman and haven't done much rifle shooting in several years. Had it sighted in just 5 rounds. Then went to playing. First magazine after sighting in was all 30 rounds in a circle of less than 6" from a standing position out to about 25 meters with cheapo ammo. All shots were taken within a second or less of each other... So for a plinker and home defense carbine it easily fits the bill... I'm sure with practice and better sights it will shoot far better than I can.

But see what kind of people Hillary-Obama will appoint to the federa,l courts, including SCOTUS, compared to the kind of people McCain is likely to appoint.
People shouldn't be blinded by emotion. FWIW, Ron Paul is not going to be the nominee, and he wouldn't win the White House if he was.
At this point we have to play the cards we have been dealt.
So if you want to see your 2A rights wither and die, it's simple. All you have to do is:
1) Stay home.
2) Vote for the Slow Wheat candidate of your choice.
3) Vote for Hillary or Obama on the "theory" that McCain is "worse".
Those who do any of the above should keep in mind that as they are patting themselves on the back in self-satisfaction for "showing them", they are only half a move away from putting themselves in position to be handcuffed.

Kid yourself if you want to, but see what kind of people McCain will appoint to the federal courts, including SCOTUS, compared to the kind of people a conservative is likely to appoint. No more RINOs!
If the Republicans wanted my vote, they would have nominated a conservative. I heard them loud and clear. I voted in the Democratic primary where my vote might make a difference. I didn't get picked as a delegate at the caucus but that's fine with me. At least I didn't waste my vote.
