I will not buy a Glock for my own personal use. They are ugly pistols. IMHO they are high priced lightweight High Points. People who own Glocks pretty much know nothing about firearms and are not willing to learn. Brown eyed people are dumber than blue eyed people. If The missus was to want one I would buy her one but I would think about telling her she had to clean it and then not tell her and clean it anyway. You have to pull the trigger to take it apart?

Yes. you have to "uncock" the striker to get the slide off and the only way to do that is pull the trigger. i dont see why this is such a big deal? we all dry fire all the time. whats the difference? pay attention to what your doing and check the weapon first. you should be clearing your weapon before field stripping anyway, right?

Very similar process for XDs. You gotta pull the trigger to remove the slide. So, even though I don't like Glocks particularly, I can't hold this "feature" against them.

I have to remove the barrel bushing on my 1911 to remove the slide and this forces me to put my hand over the muzzle; I don't have a problem with this either, but I ALWAYS double check the loaded status of my pistols before cleaning them.

Mine is the AMT .380 Backup. And I have one of the early models that I bought before the quality went down!

I spent at least 8 hours with a file and stone removing all of the burrs and tooling marks on the frame and slide. I had to polish the ramp so it would feed. Also, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. It's for sale. Any one interested?

You just reminded me...add the AMT .380 backup to my list.

I had one of the early ones and it was a jam-o-matic that couldn't hit dirt if you dropped it.

First off I buy a pistol for personal protection so I don't let price stand in the way. I went through a couple'a very radical brain surgeries in Jan. '91. It left me with some parallises on the left side and in my right hand also. Some auto's are difficult for me to operate. I much prefer revolvers anyway. I want buy a cheap revolver of any kind. I pretty mush stick with S&W or Colts, no others.

That's a battlefield pickup. If I had the spare change I would buy one because of what it represents: The fight for freedom.

Also, the Chinese government did not profit from those weapons. They provided them to North Korea and Vietnam.

Yes, and I'm sorry if you're offended, especially because you are good guy and let me shoot your Ruger, which is a fine pistol otherwise.

The warning labels bother me on principle. To me, they imply "You're too stupid to know that this is a weapon."

Does any gun come today without some kind of read the manual label?

I looked at about 1,000 handguns at the NRA convention in 2005, and only a few brands had warning labels engraved or stamped into them.

I think our Remington shotguns had peel-off labels, but it's been a while since I bought them.

I am particularly proud of the high-capacity pistols I own whose cases bear a great big sticker that reads: "NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA."

Is that on the pistol itself or the magazine?

I can understand why you're proud, but the fact that such a thing can happen in the United States is sad.

Agreed. I bought a mark III hunter and the warning is disgusting. I might not have bought it had I know it was emblazzened down the gun.
