Re: Introduce yourself
Thanks guys. I'm learning that.
I've jumped into a couple of threads. Even though this is mostly anonymous it is still nice to get to talk with others with CHLs that have probably already gone through many scenarios that I have yet to encounter. No one else in my family or close friends have CHLs. Very few even have firearms in their homes. However, none of them are condeming me for making this choice.

Re: Introduce yourself
A big TX Howdy! I think this is my 5th post here, and I just found the "Introduce yourself" post (sometimes I'm a little slow).
I live in East TX, am a DAV (U.S.A.F.), and retired U.S. Postal worker, yes one of those! I'm a young 60, and have been hunting on my own since I was 9. I reload for my pistols, and been doing so since 1977. My carry gun is either a Norinco copy of the 1911A (Customized by Jim Clark), a Tuarus PT58HC + in SS, or a Charter Arms Bull Dog. Since I am on the heavy side all my CCW's are carried in Yaquie style holsters. I am a member of several gun forums, and owner/moderator of two others (motorcycle related, but not used much anymore). I am married, and have 4 grown children, none at home, two of which are tattoo artist, here in TX. I have my own personal range out to 100yds. Love to shoot, and talk about guns. I am a NRA member. My latest purchase is a Magnum Research semi-auto in WMR. Won't disclose the number of guns and ammo in my home, but I feel that I have enough of both.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hello all,
I'm 27, born in Louisiana but properly raised here in Texas. I was introduced to handguns about 10 months ago. I currently live in the Metroplex. I'm down to 15 hours on an electrical engineering degree at UTA. I've been working in aerospace engineering for the last 3 years. I'm single again so I suddenly have extra spending money for my new hobby and lifestyle as a CHL holder.
Only about 2 weeks into the long wait for my CHL to come back, so in the meantime I've been e-stalking all of you on the forum here, trying to learn what I can.
Currently, I have a S&W M&P 9mm full-size and an old Llama IIIa. I am still looking around for a good holster for the M&P, but I'm not a big guy (5'8" 145 lbs) so concealment *may* be an issue during summer months, so I may go buy something a little more concealable (rats! ) in the near future.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi Drew and welcome to the forumm! There's a wealth of information here at your fingertips, and a great crowd who frequents this board. This is first forum that I've joined where all people act civilly towards one another, even though they may disagree.
Good luck on the CHL. I'm in a 3 tier waiting mode for mine, and I've taken the first step by applying to DPS online. Now I'm waiting on the packet to wait on taking the course, so I can wait on the plactic.
What practice range do you go to? I go to Winchester Gallery range at 820 & Lancaster in F.W. Hope to see you there someday!

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi Joe,
Actually, when I took the CHL class that's where we went for the range test. I hadn't been before, and I haven't practiced since but I definitely have "the itch" already. I just moved to Richland Hills, so I had actually figured on going back there since it is only about 5 or 6 minutes south.
It seems everyone here is pretty friendly, which reminds me of the quote: "an armed society is a civil society". Guess that carries through on the web too.
Hope to learn more, and maybe contribute a bit too. Thanks on the CHL, hope your wait isn't as punishing as mine!
