I have been stocking up on ammo, non-perishable food, and water. Guess I should think medical supplies

Just make sure you put the police response time on the sign too. :biggrinjester:

Not needed, because the signs are written in multiple languages so everybody will follow the rules.

I was thinking the same thing but if things Fall Apart the dollar is worthless.
Ammo will be the gold standard.
That's what I told my wife, she wants to buy gold, I said ammo!

Consequently, there is at least as much value in accumulating relationships with sober-minded, intelligent, and gracious people who have the same assessment of the future, as there is in stockpiling materiel. Strategy requires colaborers, otherwise all you have is tactics. Tactics may win a fight, but it won't win a war. So I have consciously and deliberately sought to build a network of relationships with lime-minded people, which to me, is as important as the material preps.

And all of this includes spiritual preparation and maintenance. There will be a role to be played for a good chaplain in all of this.
:iagree: Although not sure if I'm "lime minded". :biggrinjester:

I'm late to the field of preparing in arms and ammo, and especially lacking in the area of building network and friendships with like minded people here in Texas.

My greatest defense is knowing our destination should opposition parties overcome my ability to defend the lives of my wife and myself.

The question of whether to stockpile gold or ammo reminds me of Machiavelli's advice to one of the popes - "Gold can't always get you good soldiers, but good soldiers can always get you gold".

DEB,

That's a rather grim thought.

Necro votes shouldn't count.

Given, I'll probably be heading out for the last roundup first, I'll make sure that SWMBO makes certain my voting remains suspended along with meself.

I'm going to buy an AR15 variant in a private, in-state sale, with no background check, using the "gun show loophole". :nono:

Ha, ha!!!

Very good post to lighten the tone a bit. Unfortunately, the topic is about as depressing as it gets. I've added a couple of more AR lowers, parts necessary and have been topping up ammo and reloading supplies (Widener's had a good price on bulk 5.56 and 7.62 boolits...) to go with the odds and ends in the out of the way storage room. As someone pointed out, don't forget the band aids and know how to put them on.

The disparity between the relative "views" on parade makes me pessimistic. Things simply cannot go on as they are for an extended period and change from the current state means there will be winners and losers. The stakes of those "wins and losses" would lead us to a very volatile situation, in either case. Take away someones benefits and "lifestyle" and your threatening then. Tell some one else that despite paying half their earnings to "the government" on way or another, that they now have to "pay up" isn't going to go over too well either.

Right about now, I'd like to be able to cite a Hank WIlliams Jr. song and say that;

"I live back in the woods you see, just my woman and the kids and the dogs and me..."

Don't worry about the ones that there's a paper trail for. There's plenty of room at the bottom of Grapevine lake next to mine, not to mention that guy Joe who bought the rest of them. He was kind of nondescript looking. It was legal at the time.
