magazine care?

I used to believe that modern mag springs could stay compressed indefinitely without a problem. Very recently however, I was talking with a good friend who just retired from Houston Police Dept. after 36 years of service. Twenty-six of those years were in SWAT as an instructor. It has been their experience with 1911 .45ACP mags that 8-round mags will "take a set" and loose some rebound, but this is not so with 7-round mags. He didn't comment on other mags.

Oh yes, he's also a certified armorer for all weapons that HPD officers can carry and/or use.
