Ironic that the gang managed to get themselves burned in the process of lighting up Borden's house:

Funny how they failed to mention any of this in the first article cited above, which is 2 months newer.

Ortiz was burned over 40 percent to 60 percent of his body in the fire. Authorities flew him to Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital burn center.
Arson is never a laughing matter, but severely burning yourself while lighting someone's house on fire, that's just downright funny.

Hey, you play with fire..................
This "notorious" SUR 13 needs to just leave this guy alone. They haven't come out ahead in any dealings with him.

Watch out - you might give the prosecutor ideas about another line of attack against the homeowner . . . maybe something along the lines of "Failure to provide for the safety of arsonists . . ."

Araujo's fiancée, Anastasia Bocanegra, 20, wept as the verdicts were read and was incredulous afterward.

"He got away with killing two people," she said. "The car was stopped. Norman was not in fear for his life. These were not bad guys. They were babies."
I love how these "babies" have a baseball bat and a "makeshift" weapon and try to run people over with a Jeep. These guys were known gang bangers as well (at least one was, birds of a feather...). I've dealt with creeps like this before and I don't doubt it for one minute. It amazes me that when someone defends themselves they become the aggressor in the situation. If these thugs wouldn't have started anything then they would still be alive. It's their fault that they're dead.

HankB wrote:Interesting quote in the original story from the prosecutor:
"This case kind of stands on its own," Williams said. "They were bringing a lot of violence to this defendant. I don't think the new law made any difference. The truth hurt me in this case."
Notice the last sentence where the prosecutor says "The truth hurt me . . . "

The truth hurt him?!?

Wonder if that's just a poor choice of words, or an indication of a rather odious mindset on his part . . . and if he knew the truth as he prosecuted the case . . .
Obviously the latter.

It looks to me that Borden got "Nifonged" by this guy. He knew darn well that the shootings were fully justified, but he brought charges anyway.

It's good that justice finally prevailed, though it never should have gotten this far.

And the victim is gonna be looking over his shoulder for a long time. I sure hope he takes good care of himself - though it seems like he has managed to do so so far.
