I recently watched a show on the History channel about the Aryan Brotherhood. They showed how they train their members how to escape restraints and often carry a handcuff key. They even have a way of snorting the key up their nose! Among other places :shock:

The guards basically said that the restraints are nothing more than something to give you that extra few seconds to respond to a threat. It is no guarantee.
