As far as I know,.....they do not make an EMP in .45 acp.
Only 9mm and .40.

If you have something that you think looks like an EMP, then it is probably a "Micro Compact" 3" barrel, .45 acp.

Springfield does in fact only make the EMP in 9mm and 40cal. The 45 must be the micro, very nice guns in 45, very hard to find as well. Although they do not have the same levels of fit and finish as the EMP's they are great shooters and reliable. I have been trying to buy some from my distributors for 2 years now and have yet to get even one in my hands so if you go that route soon as you see one grab it fast.... Good luck with your decisions and shopping adventures........ research is half of the enjoyment in buying a new firearm..

half the fun but also half of the frustration as you keep sounding like a kid in a candy store(i want that and that and gotta have that one and on and on)
local guy is trying to get rid of a sig 220 45 with 6 mags says it is in excellent condition as it has been a safe queen. what would be a good price.

i know totally far away from what i am still going to buy, but if the price is right everyone needs a range toy . :fire
thanks

and just to throw another option out there, you could look at the sti escort.
comes in 9,40 and 45 and seems to be comparable in size to the emp

Sig has made many models of the 220 so you should find out which one it is. The German made 220's are (IMO) a bit more desirable as the triggers are better, for one of the older German models somewhere in the $500 to $600 is about average depending on the condition. The newer models seem to be in the $600 to $700 range although there are some deals out there. IMO the Sig 220 is the best non 1911 45 on the market. They are not small guns though but very accurate and lots of fun to shoot, carrying is another story unless you totally dress around the gun...

My vote is emp as well. Very accurate, easy to carry.

Thanks for the clarification, guys. Was looking at 3" .45's and the guys in the gun store tried to steer me toward the EMP's. I looked but really wanted the .45 and one of them told me they had it in .45 as well. Liked it and bought it. But it does indeed say Micro Compact. I do believe it is the same size though, right?

No the EMP was built from the ground up as a 9mm and .40 cal its not a .45 1911 chambered in 9mm. Its slimmer in the grip area. The whole circumference of the grip is less which really makes the grip feel different in a good way to most people. Now whether or not that matters to you is another thing all together but its not the same size. Most 9mm or .40 1911's are .45s that have been fitted with spacers and other mods to make the run the smaller calibers. SA built the EMP around the shorter length of the 9mm and .40 ammo. I believe the Micro is just a cut down 1911 but don't quote me on that. Hey if you like the gun and it feels good to you then its all good.
