Several pistols here and there. Rifles are all locked up.

Re: Where is your Home Defense rifle?
Like most of the other folks on here, I have a handgun on my person all day. When I go to bed, it goes to the nightstand. I keep a Mossy 500 loaded (not chambered) by the bed.

Rifle is in the closet, but my G19 is on the nightstand and is my "go to" gun.

Re: Where is your Home Defense rifle?
Like many others my rifles are all in the safe with AR set up for quick access and loading. I have a Sig226 fully loaded and chambered in a simplex style lock box in the nightstand. My carry 45 joins it at night or when I'm at work.
I think of my rifle for full blown civil unrest and not day to day security.

My rifle to the grabs is my Tantal AK74S in 5.45x39. Loaded Mags is next to the AK in the safe and I am looking for another chest rig.

In a locked safe.
Mags on the shelf, just above the rifle.
But, I wouldn't consider it a Home Defense Rifle.
AR in .308 - Mags are holding 150 gr. rounds.
That'll pass thru the BG like a knife thru butter at anything less than 100 yards and go zipping off thru a wall (or 2) and into (something else???
). I'd be afraid to pull that trigger; not knowing what's in the shot line (for the next mile).
I'll trust with my 1911 with JHPs and/or the 12 gauge (No preference in order; it'll be whichever I can get to first.

Re: Where is your Home Defense rifle?
Underfolded AK under my bed, loaded mag. attached, no round chambered, actually this is more accessible than my pistol that is in a bedside drawer. All children are grown and gone, no grandchildren yet, otherwise I would not keep them like this. Also, I live in a more remote heavily wooded area, so I am not really that concerned with over penetration, otherwise I would have a shotgun with buckshot available, rather than a rifle.
