for those of you that shoot KRISS carbines, are they worth the hefty price tag? Or is, say, a Beretta CX4 a more economical, but efficient, substitute? I understand one of their big selling points is the Super V System and the limited recoil. Recoil never really bothered me much and I imagine a pistol cartridge in a rifle to be minimal recoil inherent to it's size and power.

I looked at the KRISS and the USC from HK. The KRISS was way over priced in my opinion unless you plan on shooting full auto. No real value if you are not, it is clunky and kinda clumsy feeling as well as odd looking. The USC is still on the expensive side, but there is one for sale used on budsgunshop.com for $1299.00. That is $200 cheaper than I have ever seen one. I like the USC but I do not LOVE it. THE UMP is another story though. But again you start talking KRISS money again.

I think the CX4 is the best solution for a budget minded buyer. I had one in 9mm and it was a dream to shoot, incredibly accurate past 50yds, totally ambidextrous, and light weight. My wife loved shooting it and found the iron sights to work very well for her.

+1, although I think the KRISS has an excellent recoil system.

Hey are you folks in Austria (or at least Smyrna, GA) reading this? People seem to really like/want reliable, reasonably priced pistol-caliber carbines - preferably with access to high cap magazines and interchangeability with popular same-caliber sidearms too.

Wonder if there's a company out there ideally suited to bring such products to market if they just had a marketing brain and R&D staff that wasn't stuck reliving its 1980s glory days ...

Well....I just sent an email out to a couple of different gun manufacturers (glock, keltec etc) asking them if they could create a good/cheap/reliable 45 carbine with ability to use either the G21 mags, 1911 mags or XD(m) mags. Not to mention gave them a link to this topic to look at. I figure that if enough ppl ask about it the more they will consider it and potentially create it

Maybe just get an upper to go on a pistol you already have?
