it wasn't the minigun, but I spent about 2-1/2 years at Ft Bliss,TX working on 20mm Vulcan cannons. Absolutely awesome. We always attracted a crowd at the range. We shot at RC planes & sawed through junk cars, old deuce & a halfs & the like. I can recall a particular 3 day range trip , all 12 guns on line trying to burn up 76,000 rounds of 20mmTPT before end of fiscal year. You'd think it'd take no time at all, but 3000 rounds per minute is only theoretical. There was a lot of down time clearing jams, etc. The Vulcan had a 10hp 7500rpm drive motor & los of moving parts, & can really make a mess when something goes wrong. Also imagine a red-hot gun jamming up & the un-chambered live rounds start cooking off?
Always Remember:
A firearm is only an instrument. It contains no evil, no conscience, and no ability. It is strictly the intent, competence, and character of its user that decide the outcome of any and all actions taken with it.
(I don't know who deserves credit for this quote, but I like it.)
