Re: College campus' and weapons
...I'm old enough to remember when school officials at all levels not only cared but were carefully responsive to the wishes of their students' parents...now, they act as if they're rulers of their little universes...and we can like what they do or lump it...and we let them get away with it...by continuing to support them with our money and our students...tacticool's got it by the throat!!!

Re: College campus' and weapons
I carried a knife to most of my classes every day. The way I looked at it was a knife is a tool used to cut things, be it rope, plastic, boxes or bgs. To date the only person I have cut has been myself, on accident. A university is not going to care if you carry a pocket knife, if you walk in with a sword they might object but a pocket knife no. If you are living in a dorm then you might want to check the dorm rules because they can be more strict. If you don't advertise it no one will care, if you pull it out willy nilly for no reason and start messing with it in class like a crazed lunatic then yah someone will care.

Here is a question, I attend A&M university school but also work in the athletic department. Occasional I get sent to out of town places to pick up something here or there and have to take a car leased by the university. I'm talking like a couple hours drive. Is it legal to carry in a car leased by the university as long as I do not enter any university building or do I have to travel unarmed?

I did college-work-study ... worked at the college book storeI read my schools and its fairly vague, also no mention of legal knives. It says "students shall not possess a firearm, bullets, or any replica firearm or weapon on school property."
1) got faculty parking sticker as employee
2) got to use faculty/staff break/restrooms (toilet paper was softer)
3) got to know other Staff, including teachers who would grade me later and campus police
4) carried a 5" blade, (about 12" overall open) folding knife and when campus police saw me flip it open and they asked me "Is that legal" I said, "of course it is, it's my box opener for cartons of books, (not a weapon) and the blade is ONLY 5 inches" they laughed.
I agree on the pepper spray, I was thinking Pepper Blaster 2 ... Tasers also are under the radar I think

Re: College campus' and weapons
Campus policy/procedures apparently vary by campus. On the A&M main campus, the published rules on weapons http://rules.tamu.edu/PDFs/34.06.02.M1.pdf define restricted University premises the same way that State law does, i.e., premises do not include "...private driveway, street, sidewalk, walkway, parking lot, parking garage or other parking area". So there is not even a school policy against having a legal weapon in your car or carrying it concealed with a CHL while strolling around outside.
