I used to have a S&W Mod. 58, .41 Mag with a 4" and it was pretty punishing. It kinked quite a bit harder than my Mod. 29 with a 6-1/2". Barrel length has a "LOT" to do with recoil.

They did actually have a 44mag with a really short barrel but I didnt ask what size it was and im not brave enough to shoot one that small.

I ended up getting a Smith 38sp + P airweight cause it was on sale, they had no other 357's other than smiths, which the cheapest one was 599. In all the Smith with ammo ran me right at 530.. and concidering the box of ammo is $40, the gun was under 500. I called 4 stores in total before I settled on the 38, none of them had a Ruger SP101, 2 of them didnt even have a single 357, and the other 2 only had Smiths(one of which i bought the 38 at). The other store with the smiths were starting at mid 600 for a 357.

Oh and in all honesty.. I completely forgot to check if they had that ruger super blackhawk still.. Guess I really didnt want it as bad as I thought since I forgot about it

Oh and pardon the mess in the background
