I guess a story to learn from this is don't place a weapon (or anything else) on the hood, roof, trunk, etc of your vehicle.

It could have been used to murder someone. You don't want to be picked up with it in your possession if it was. I am with the turn it in crowd.

If I find money (the green kind), and someone comes to me to claim it, I ask them to identify the denomination lost.
If they are able to do that, then I also ask them to provide the serial number on the bill for final ID before returning it.
