I'm new here but let me add one of my biggest fears. Let's say the threats aren't "I'm going to jump up and kick your butt", instead he's saying "I'm going to come back when I make bail and kill you and your whole family, burn down your house and rape your dog". Would this change your response?

Then I might just cap him, I love my dog.

On the serious side, that, IMO, serves as further justification for deadly force, as discussed in another thread, and should serve to make getting bail a very iffy proposition. Of course it's a "He said, she said." situation at that point, but after all, he was in your house doing things he wasn't supposed to be doing and making threats...

I'd make sure to tell him he's a daisy if he does...And make sure he brings friends...He'll never be that unhappy again...

And leave them with a smile...I always try to remember to do that...

It makes me feel better...And thats whats important...

There actualy was a case of his in California a couple of years ago
"I'm going to come back when I make bail and kill you and your whole family, burn down your house and rape your dog".
The way I rember it is:

A man was irritating his neighbors. Sometimes he was within the law sometimes he wasn't. Police were called. Notes were taken. No charges were ever brought against the "nutty neighbor".

The situation continued / was repeated for some time.

Finaly, he did some kind of threating stunt with his automobile. Car(s) were damaged and/or folks were injured. Police were called again and this time charges were filed. One of his neighbors (a "good guy") testified aganst him. The nut was not sentenced to prison.

After the trial he showed up at the home of the "good guy" and made something like the above threat. The "good guy" responded by going into the house, loading his .45, getting in his car, running the "nut" off the road, then "good guy" emptied his .45 into the "nut". The "nut" responded by dying.

Charges were filed against the "good guy". He was found guilty of murder.

The neighborhood returned to it's natural state.

"Good guy" went to prison.

After reading the article, I remember thinking, "The "good guy" wouldn't have gone to prison if this had happened in Texas." I am more informed now and I am no longer sure that the good guy would win in Texas.

On a similiar anectdote, we were told this one in my CHL class.

Husband and wife own a bar. Close it up late one night (he's carrying). Come out to find a large, african american male rifling through thier mail in thier suburban. They tell him to get out and leave. He gets out and stares him down and says "Wut...are you gonna do?" and walks slowly towards owner. He goes on to say "I know where you live, I have your address - you and your family are dead." He gets close enough and goes to punch the owner (no gun drawn...yet).

During the scuffle the BG's shirt is ripped off to reveal the tattoo "#1 Crip" or something like that. Does the threat have more credibility now?

BG leaves, owner follows guy (dumb I think...maybe). BG goes to park under bridge, finally turns and approaches owner, says "I'm sick of this $#%@" and lunges swinging at owner. Owner draws, fires striking BG two or 3 times. Cops show up, take notes, no charges filed (if I remember correctly).

Granted - the self defense shooting happened DURING an immenent attack.

By inaction, disengagement, and saying nothing to escalate such an agregious verbal and terroristic threat to you and your wife...

If you drive off and said suspect follows you, and or attempts to act on the threat he levied...With the knowledge of where you live etc etc...

You gave him ample opportunity to blow it off and leave you alone...

I'd say you certainly have given them every chance to NOT do what they say they are going to do...

Bada bing, bada BANG...

I would have very little, to zero, sympathy or emotion...
