Anybody Else Haveing Problems with Glock 42?

#1

Post by Crash »

I've fired only about 85 rounds through my new Glock 42 but have had a number of failures to feed or failure to eject with several different types of HP ammo--no problems with FMJ. Anybody else having these problems? I'm going to shoot another 200 rounds of FMJ through if and if there are no problems I'll start using HPs again. If I have more problems with it, the gun's going back to Glock for repair.

Could be the meplat is too large and gets hung up. The meplat is the flat where the hollow is located at the end of the ogive or curved front portion of da boowit.

Or you may be limp writing it. Choke up a little on the gun. These little guns are finicky about the ammo you feed the and how you hold them (had a girlfriend like that once...).

couzin,

Shot some Fiocchis that use the Hornady XTP which has a fairly small meplat and one or two of those hung up, then had several FTFs using Winchester Defends, which have a fairly large meplat. As I said, I'll shoot a couple hundred more FMJs and see if just needed more break-in, then start using HPs again. I'll post the results.

couzin,

Don't think I was limp-wristing it because I'm pretty careful about that, but could be. And I know what you mean about the girlfriends

I have still yet to have a failure with mine. Several threads on the Glock 42:

I owned a 42 for a little while. Mine was really picky about ammo.

My wife's Sig P238 is finicky about hollow points, it will reliability feed Hornady Critical Defense though which is more pointed (smaller meplat.) Now I have about 400 rounds of non-Hornady hollow points in .380 that just take up shelf space.

None at all, with about 150 rounds through it.

I follow the GLOCK section of AR15 and the 42's "Perfection" in the early months of it's release was lacking. Several changes were made which I seem to recall where in the receiver & magazine area. Some of the Glock informal experts were hard pressed to identify the details other than part numbers which are obvious or other symbols or character marks less obvious as part numbers. Glock never came forward with any public notification of change (typical). Current production specimens seem to run well.

Used or NOS guns may need a trip back to Glock. There is at least one URL site I saw many months ago that has details of the changes that has or could be identified.

Good Luck with your 42.

I have not had any problem with the 42's performance - feeding, ejecting, etc.
I just can't hit squat with it.

It seems my wife's likes Winchester WB hard ball. Had lots of problems with other
factory stuff. We haven't tried any HPs yet.
