A pocket 9mm.
I've basically boiled it down to the Shield or the new G43. I can't buy a gun without at least holding it to see how it feels. Based on what I've been seeing, I might be waiting a while before I can see a G43 in person.

Don't have a G43 but I do have a Shield. I find my SIG P938 far superior as a pocket gun, as it is significantly smaller and slimmer than the Shield.comp73 wrote:A pocket 9mm.

Is it just the smaller size or is it that much nicer of a pistol?VMI77 wrote:Don't have a G43 but I do have a Shield. I find my SIG P938 far superior as a pocket gun, as it is significantly smaller and slimmer than the Shield.comp73 wrote:A pocket 9mm.

I did research the 938 initially, but cocked and locked in my pocket is just an idea I have a hard time with. I've found the safety off on my commander that I carry at 4-5 o'clock twice for no apparent reason. I'm sure it was something I did that caused it, but either way, I did not notice it until I was home later when I took off my rig. No telling how long I was running around town with it like that.

I'd rate is as smaller and nicer. It comes with tritium night sights. Fine shooting too. Part of that may simply be that the grip fits my hand better than the Shield grip does. The 938 is basically a mini 1911. I usually carry it OWB, but have carried it in an ankle holster or in my pocket when I have unusual dress and concealment requirements.comp73 wrote:Is it just the smaller size or is it that much nicer of a pistol?VMI77 wrote:Don't have a G43 but I do have a Shield. I haven't had any problems with the safety coming off but I do agree that if you're going to carry this style handgun cocked and locked you need to be attentive to the position of the safety. When I pocket carry I occasionally put my hand in my pocket and use my thumb to check that the safety is still engaged, and I always carry in a pocket holster that covers the trigger, with nothing else in my pocket. A good pocket holster that keeps the trigger covered does somewhat mitigate a disengaged safety.

I stopped researching once I "decided" I did not want a SAO in my pocket, but I'm starting to think I may need to reconsider. I'll take a closer look at one the next time I'm at the store.

It's not a firearm, it's an air rifle. I would like to have an AA TX200 with a Walnut stock and a big side focus scope in .177 caliber.

I would love to get an STI double stack 1911 at some point. Not sure which model. Lots of them are nice.

I just put an HK MP5 22LR in layaway!!! I have admired those guns as a kid in the movies... I can't afford the real deal so I'll take the immitation 22 version.

Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
Went to the smallish Junction gun and knife show yesterday. Handled a Glock 43 - I don't like the way Glocks feel but the 43 felt good and I could see that in my inventory. Fellow was selling a nice Sig P239 in .357 Sig caliber and wouldn't take a check (understandable) otherwise it would have followed me home. Could have done the ATM thing but I wasn't that motivated. I will be adding a P239 at some point.

Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
Just ordered the next for us, but specific to training and not really firearms. Two SIRT pistols, red/green laser, along with a webcam and some LASR software to enhance dry-fire training for us and for folks in classes we hold.

SIG P938 is next on my list. All of my pistols except one, an XD40, are 1911s (Gov't or Commander size).
