Re: Which hand gun would you choose if could have just one?
This thread reminds me of a conversation I had with a coworker a couple of years ago.
Coworker: "If you could only have one of your guns, which one would you keep?"
Me: (After about 10 seconds of thought.) "My Mossberg 930 SPX."
Coworker: "Really? But you can't conceal a shotgun."
Me: "You remember I keep it loaded with buckshot, right?"
Coworker: "Yes."
Me: "So if I had that shotgun in my hands, do you think you would stand any chance of taking the others?"
Coworker: "Uh, no."
Me: "I rest my case."
ETA: That former coworker is a member on here. If he sees this, he just might chime in to confirm that conversation did, indeed take place.

I have to agree. I never carry mine, but if limited to one and only one handgun, that has to be it.mr1337 wrote:Glock 19.
Good concealibility. Abundant ammo. 15+1 capacity. Lots of aftermarket support. Durable and dependable.
Worldwide, the G19 is probably in more hands than any other handgun, including in the U.S. That means parts cannibalization is highly likely to keep one running and to obtain mags (plus the fact that most G17 parts can also be used). The Glock magazine fits multiple other models, including non-Glock SBRs and carbines. To my knowledge, the 9×19mm is the only NATO handgun round and again, worldwide, is probably more prevalent and available than any other.
I'm not a prepper, but if I were my bug-out firearms would be a Glock 19 or 17 plus a carbine that uses 9mm in the Glock magazines, like the Just Right Carbine, the JPGMR-13, or a Lone Wolf 9mm.

If I had to choose just one of everything out there, it would probably be a shotgun of some sort for the pure flexibility of the platform. Probably a pump, but my old reliable Beretta A390 gas semiauto has been dead reliable for thousands upon thousands of rounds of hunting and clay sport competitions. If restricted to choosing one handgun as most everyone in the thread is assuming, I would say it would be a revolver chambered in .357mag allowing the flexibility and availability of .38spl and .357 mag. If restricted to a rifle, it would probably be a lever action in .357mag for the same reason.

Question is......where did the rest of your shots go?tomtexan wrote:My M&P 9 Pro Series 5 inch. The very first two rounds I fired from it after I got it hit the bullseye.

Glock 19 - Based on the question, not a TEOTWAWKI scenario. Even then I may choose the Glock 19.

If I could have just one out of all of them in the world?
I'd go with the Beretta 92/M9. It fits my hands really well, high capacity, fits a lot of my holsters and since it's government issue parts and ammo shouldn't be hard to find.
If I was keeping just one from my collection then it would be my Sig P238. It was my first handgun purchase and I'm never letting it go.

The notion of 'just one' and that one being for forever and a day would require a handy size, durable, and utilitarian sidearm. Something like a K-22 could do just about anything that I'd ever need in a handgun.

My M&P 9c with night sights and Apex DCAEK trigger. Conceals 12+1 nicely and accepts 17 round FS mags. I'm most familiar with it and shoot it the most accurately. About 1,000 rounds without a glitch, I trust it completely. Last but not least, I have several thousand rounds that I can feed it and its little sister the Shield. If ammo dried up tomorrow they wouldn't starve for quite some time.

My gen3 g27 with a 9mm conversion barrel. I like the fact that it accepts all the small frame Glock mags and can run 40, 9, and 357sig. In my opinion, it's the world's most versatile handgun.
