How Often Do You Practice?

Every since I took my class Jan 07,I have load up my ammo and Sig P~245 and go down and set p and re~score and practice every Sunday morning 7 am.My buddy & I meet to practice and our scores this morning were~~>his 230 & mine 250 out of 50 rounds fired as per shooting test.

I have been an active shooter,reloader,and made a big part of my living hunting as a guide,but shooting every weekend is very very important on being a CHL as you all know.

How often do you shoot and hgow many rounds per time practiced?

lately, I have been shooting 50rnds/day, twice a week. But that's more or less to 'ease the pain of the wait' for my plastic

At least weekly. If I miss a week or two because of weather or obligations, I make it up at the next opportunity.

I normally shoot at least 3 times a month. On a normal range visit I go through anywhere from 150 to 400 rounds. (This is in addition to the weekly IDPA match lately)

I've been going about every other Sunday, although I would like to go every Sunday. I also do IDPA, and try to go to that once a month, although it doesn't always work out.

Now that I'm reloading, I'll probably go more.

Last month it was only three times, with the weather the ranch chores started backing up so any non-rain day was spent getting caught up.

I shoot 200-300 rounds each practice. The majority of the practice is starting from concealment, shooting as I would in a self-defense situation at ranges from contact out to ~30 ft. I do practice longer shots (basically bulls-eye style shooting), but they account for only ~15-20% of the rounds.

When I add my AR/AK/Mini to the mix the distances are contact to ~100 yrds with transitions practiced out to ~15 yrds.

I shoot an IDPA match once to three times a week. I shoot with Gary B @ Tactical Shooters on Tue night about twice a month. I shoot with West Houston IDPA (WHIDPA) every wed night provided we are not rained out. I try and shoot at least two Sat a month, typically the 1st Sat with WHIDPA and the 4th Sat at Pearland.

When getting ready for major IDPA matches, I also do one hour of dry firing at least 3 times a week for several months prior to shooting the match.

In IDPA and other shooting sports, I find that correct dry firing is EVEN MORE IMPORTANT than putting rounds downrange. The actual match time is showing the results of the time practiced dryfiring.

Dry-fire, about 4 hours a week if I think about it and live fire about 200 rounds a week not including what gets burned up at the 2-4 IDPA matches I shoot per month. I'd like to shoot a lot more but between life and ammo prices, I have to budget my time/money.

Mental rehersal is valuable. Most top-performing athletes do it.

The wife and I shoot once a month. About 2-3 hours each. I wish we could do more but heck I gotta pay for 2.

Any chance I can get. I prefer to shoot IDPA matches rather than just punch holes in paper at a regular shooting range. I find it to be a little more interesting and good practice to develop good draw techniques.

My wife went with me to the CHL class and got hers. However, as i became more excited about guns and such. She seems to have lost her interest. So the result is I only go shooting about once a month. Maybe twice a month if I can get away. I try to shoot 100 to 200 rounds each time.

A question for you folks,.......are there any mag loaders available for the M&P 9mm compact pistols?

Almost my identical routine....I do a bit more live fire on a plate rack. Most of my mental practice is done in the evening and often at the reloading bench when powder is not yet part of the equation

I have learned much more from dry fire than I have from live. I try to shoot 3 IDPA matches per month when possible.

I pick up my gun and take a few sight pictures daily.
