It's funny how everything old is new again. Back in the mid 1960's the .45-70 was dead and Marlin designed the Marlin .444 . When we got the first one in I ran my hands over it and said I'd buy one if I ever started deer hunting. I pushed them to a lot of east Texas hunters but they always deferred to a Marlin 336 in 30-30. I even tried selling them on the .35 Remington, but rarely made a sale on it either. Then just a few years later marlin introduces a lever action in .45-70 and the .444 is overshadowed by it. I did finally get the 444 a couple of months ago, but it's the later version with a pistol grip stock. It was made by Marlin not Remington. I'm working on my next firearm and will post if it comes to fruition

You did say "want" so this is what I "want" that I will probably never see.

A S&W AR15.
I'd been looking at a Ruger 1911, but I've already got several handguns. My only rifles are a bolt action 30/30 and a couple of 22's, so I think I'll go with an AR in 223.

Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
I've always wanted an M1A, but I think what I'm finally going to do is get a M1 Garand via the CMP. Sworn for years I was going to, but it always gets pushed to the back of the fun gun list.
Maybe after that new Glock 19 I've been meaning to buy, and optics for my AR build.

A semi-auto 12ga. Followed by a 1911, I was thinking the S&W Pro in 9mm.
Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
I would like a KelTec Sub2000 in 9mm with Glock Magazines. A trunk/truck gun to supplement the Glock I carry concealed.

I doubt it will be any time soon but a CZ SP-01 Shadow for IDPA/USPSA.
Hello. My name is Red and I used to carry a .45. Now I carry a 9mm and it's getting easier to admit every day.

I've had my eyes on it for a while too. I saw one at a shop up in Idaho last year, but it was probably the lowest quality firearm I have ever beheld. The shop was apologetic for even having it for sale. It looks like quality control is getting better. I see a lot of new ones on gunbroker, but haven't pulled the trigger. The Annoyed Man wrote:AlaskanInTexas, I've been looking at that exact same Marlin model for a while now. Not exactly something you'd want to sling 100 rounds down range in one sitting with, but if you've absolutely got to stop a charging grizzly NOW, it will do fine. I noticed a few times in Alaska State Trooper episodes that if the trooper had to head into the woods in bear country, the AR stayed in the car, and the Guide Gun came along.
I lived in Alaska until I was 25, and never gave a second thought to bears. I hiked all over the place without a care in the world (except for moose!). For some reason now, when I go back to visit my parents, I am paranoid to even go down their long driveway to grab the paper in the morning. I would really like to get two of these and give one to my dad as a present.

The nice thing about having all the guns I need, is that I can focus on getting the fun stuff I want. That being said, I am scanning the gun counters for a Chippa Triple Crown. Why? Why not! It looks like fun!

Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
I have seen the 9mm versions around lately. Fold it up in a duffel bag with a submachine gun mag pouch. My version in 40 caliber is nice. The front sight kind of sucks, but it does what I want it to do.gljjt wrote:I would like a KelTec Sub2000 in 9mm with Glock Magazines. A trunk/truck gun to supplement the Glock I carry concealed.
Re: What firearm do you want to get next?
I would love to get a double stack 1911 from STI, but I think I would have to sell several other guns to afford it.
