I do not quite understand how at least one Texas county did not make the list.

I suspect because it's a bogus survey. Not sure how they would know who, where or how many people own guns - information the government or NRA don't even know. Would be interesting to see what the data of the graph is based upon - probably a WAG rather than a SWAG.

They got their info from Reddit, who got their info from City-Data.com, who says:

Welcome to City-Data

By collecting and analyzing data from numerous sources, we're able to create detailed, informative profiles of all cities in the United States. From crime rates to weather patterns, you can find the data you're looking for on City-Data.com.

So one cannot expect much in the way of accuracy.

I am proud of my Utah branch of the family. Four of the thirty are in Salt Lake City area. Davis County, UT is just north of SLC just like the Woodland is just north of Houston.

Crime rates and weather patterns anyone can do - gun ownership, legal or illegal, not so much. If I moved to Luckenbach with all my guns it would put Gillespie County on the map - however, I expect they should already be on the map.

I wonder why they didn't also show the crime rates for those counties.

The highest was only 59%. Wouldn't you think there were counties with higher ownership than that?

I don't believe it is accurate. Granted, my evidence is anecdotal, but I don't know anyone at my workplace that doesn't own a gun. So far as I can tell, everyone of my neighbors owns a gun. I have a hard time believing that in a rural county like mine the numbers aren't up there in the 60% range, and maybe even higher.

So if there are 1000 people living in the county and 591 of them own a gun... (those little red blobs IMHO don't look like they are in very heavily inhabited areas).
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

Yes and no. Pinal Co. Az has a population of about 400,000. Fairbanks is just under 100,000.

The take away here is that with proper training the gun owners in Harris Co. (pop. 3.4 million X 30% = 1.02 million) could be the 5th largest active national military in the world. While lots wouldn't be fit enough for that, they could still comprise the 7th largest national reserve in the world.
ONE county in one state.

(I was being kind of facetious...)

But your point is well taken. Probably a big reason (the biggest?) that so many libs want to disarm us. Which is exactly the point of the Second Amendment! (yes I know - preaching to the choir!)
