Anyone have the new ruger LC-9s?

Ruger has come out with a second generation of the LC-9 poket pistol, the newly released striker-fired LC-9s. Initial reports on some of the forums indicate that the major complaint about the original hammer-fired LC-9's long trigger pull has been eliminated with the striker-fired LC9. All of the accessories for the original seem to fit the new gun, with the extended 9-round magazine having a slight cosmetic mis-fit at the base of the grip, but the magazine is securely mounted without problem.

I'm very interested in the new gun - picked up an original LC-9 when Cheaper then Dirt had them on sale for $299 one week - but hated the very long and inconsistent pull of the trigger, and dumped it for what I had in it. Now, I'm looking closely at the LC-9s, and wonder if anyone else has gotten the bug.

If so, any thoughts on the new gun? Experiences, anyone?

I remember reading about the LC9 before physically seeing one, and the premise of a small pocket pistol offered in 9mm instead of .380 ACP was appealing.

So the first time I spotted one in the LGS, I was receptive and interested in the gun and it was one debit card transaction from coming home. However, the first dry fire saw me handing the gun back having lost all interest.

If they have actually fixed the trigger pull, I may revisit the gun with an open mind.

I have shot the lc9 and while it felt great in the hand the trigger pull and recoil were no fun . My wife just got the lc380 and while the trigger is still not great it is much improved over the lc9. Basically it breaks at about a pound lighter. It makes a noticeable difference and Ruger did this as the next step. The lc9s is just the next step to improve the trigger. If they did it for the 380 i would probably trade up.

I prefer shield xds or pps but the lc9 is smaller then them all for the most part. It weighs 2-3 ounces less then the shield and is more pocketable then the others i mentioned.

With this improvement the LC9 just may become one of the top mouse guns. I carry the original model and like it. I can slip it in the back pocket of my Levis and just a small portion of the grip/mag is exposed.

Another feature hardly mentioned is the LC9's rounded edges. Ive never experience any fumbling or hang ups when holstering or pocketing.

I carry in IWB at 5:00 and had to adjust the orientation of my Crossbreed style holster as the mag release would periodically disengage & lockout the trigger.

Ive learned to work around the long trigger but it still impairs accuracy .

I will probably buy the striker model.

Heard some good reviews on the striker fired version so far, would like to try one out to compare it to my shield.

I had primer shaving issues that Ruger fixed, but I can never "get over" a guns issues no matter how hard I try; I sold the gun. I went out and got a cm9 and find that it is for me a better fit. I also have a xds 45 which is very similar in the pocket to the lc9. The cm9 is notably smaller and better for pocket carry than the lc9 was and unless the striker fired lc9 has a waaaaaaay better trigger, it will still fall short of the little Kahr's bang button.

I too bought one of the first LC9's and had the firing pin/primer issue. Ruger did a good job in promptly fixing the problem & I have since popped close to a 1000 rounds without one FTF.

Youre right, staging the trigger vastly improves accuracy, but I try to practice rapid fire every chance I get.

Well, I couldn't wait. Bud's has them for $350, and free shipping, so I'm anxiously waiting for the call from my FFL saying "C'mon down!"

I'll let y'all know how it goes for me in a few days, maybe by this weekend (the last time Bud's sent me a gun, it got delayed in the great Central Snowstorm of a year ago. Shouldn't be any delays due to weather, this time).

Just put 50 problem free rounds thru my new LC9s and for me the trigger is great. Previously owned an LC9 and almost every other single stack 9mm out there. After another 200 rounds it will probably be my warm weather EDC.

Hickok does like it, even carries it now.

I ordered mine today from Buds, hopefully have it next week. Been carrying the old LC9 for about a year and love it. Hate the trigger but got used to it...haha. Probably made me a better shooter. Can't wait for the new one.

Only a small part of the extended mag is exposed from the back pocket of my Levis. I also carry in a Crossbreed style at 5:00. Like the gun (Old LC9 with long trigger)
