Kahr PM9 question/possible problem
I was cleaning my PM9 this afternoon and noticed something I don't recall seeing before. I shot the gun at the range last week and it ran fine. I put maybe fifty rounds through it. No malfunctions. Here are a couple pics of the receiver. Notice the nick in the lower rail. Could someone with a PM9 take a look at their receivers and see how it compares to mine. It also looks like there is a slight outward bulge in the front part of the receiver frame. Maybe not. Any thoughts?
I can put picks up of other parts of gun if needed but there are no signs of cracks in frame. My largest concern is for that small chip in the metal rail.

Re: Kahr PM9 question/possible problem
I had a PM40. The polymer rail guides got somewhat chewed up after a few hundred rounds. I cleaned up the burrs with an Xacto knife and had no further problems. The only metal in the rail guide is at the rear of the frame. I can't make out exactly what that looks like from the resolution of the pictures. However, the "bulge" in the front of the frame doesn't look good to me at all.03Lightningrocks wrote:I was cleaning my PM9 this afternoon and noticed something I don't recall seeing before. I'd suggest giving Kahr a call and emailing them the pictures. They're good with their customer service and they're the best positioned to give you answers you can rely on.

Mine looks identical. Same notches in bottom, notch on rail and bowed sides.

My brand new, not even fired yet CM9 also has that notch in the rail and the bowed sides. I wondered about those bowed sides when I stripped and cleaned it, that must just be how they're made.Keith B wrote:Mine looks identical. Same notches in bottom, notch on rail and bowed sides.

I have had mine for at least six years, so it is not a new model like yours. That notch must serve some purpose. I sure would be interested to know what that purpose is.NorthTexas wrote:My brand new, not even fired yet CM9 also has that notch in the rail and the bowed sides. Q. There is a chip in the metal guide rail of my polymer pistol. Is this normal?
A. This is a witness mark for the polymer frame manufacturer and is present by design.
My PM45 looks exactly like your picture.

Re: Kahr PM9 question/possible problem
Well, what do you know about that! There it was on the Kahr site all along. Thanks, good to know. I should have gone there first. I even have that forum on an old bookmark I had forgotten about.
You just gave me an idea for a web site that could be really big. Wouldn't it be handy if there were a web site where one could enter a question or a few words and possible answers from all over the Internet would be instantly found? OMG! I think I may be on to something. I could call it... Google. It would be an instant hit! What do y'all think? Good or bad idea?

How about an on-line encyclopedia where you could search for different topics and articles for just about any subject you wanted .... nah!03Lightningrocks wrote:Well, what do you know about that! It would never work. Don't waste your time. Now go come up with a good idea.
How about a cell phone that you can surf the internet on and do an unimaginable number of things on it that can help one be more productive?

This probably the stupidest idea I have every heard, but how about having an on-line auction website where people can post items for sale to the highest bidder.mojo84 wrote:03Lightningrocks wrote:Well, what do you know about that! Re: Kahr PM9 question/possible problem
I have no idea how many rounds have been through mine. It has to be at least 2500 rounds. I put five hundred rounds through it the first two weeks I bought it. It runs like a Glock. I can feed anything through it. I am afraid to do the spring maintenance replacement Kahr recommends. It may stop working right.Murindo wrote:My PM9 is well used and looks much like the pics you've shown.

I found mine does NOT like the Tula steel cased stuff. It won't feed properly. Eats brass or aluminum cased ammo of any kind all day long.03Lightningrocks wrote:I have no idea how many rounds have been through mine. It has to be at least 2500 rounds.
