On some forums you can have a little picture by your user name. That's an avatar.

An "avatar" is a signature image that is usually attached to your profile on forums like this, either as an actual "signature line" enhancement, or underneath your "forum handle" on the left margin of forums like this...

You just pick an image, crop it or size it to fit effectively in those areas mentioned, and paste the link (URL) in the appropriate area on your profile...

Avatars usually are still images, they can be animated repeating, or looped ".gif" files as well...

I don't know much more than that...I can't even get one to work sometimes...

I'm sure someone will figure it out here, and get that going on this forum...

They reflect the participants personality and pension for wanting attention...

I think its safe to H.V. that he should get dibs on a cropped image of the target grouping for his avatar in this forum...That would be a good one for him...

Yep if this forum gets avatars, that one is all High Velocity's.

Still a darn good bit of shooting and sorry for steering the discussion away from that. :|

This is a great thread...

I got to thinking about a good avatar for my profile...

A couple of years ago, I went with some frinds to Dietz's range over in the hill country, and one of the guys had an awsome .50 Barrett scoped out, the whole she-bang...

We'll we all got a chance to send a few downrange with that thing...

I took an 8 1/2"X11" full page picture of Saddammit Hussien and tacked it up to the board way the heck down that long lane they have there...

I could barely see the paper, but knew if I at least held a good bead on that thing, I'd get a good hit...

I only wanted to hit it once...And I did...

Not sure of the range though...I'd like to brag that it was 900 yards, but y'all would say I was full of it...

Thats ok...I put that one round through the nose...It even impressed me...And thats pretty easy to do...

Anyway, I don't think the hole would come out at the size of an avatar, but it would be neat to try...

BTW, what was the theme to this thread in the first place???
