P3AT
Any of you statistical shooters know if I can identify a Kel-Tec P3AT as 2nd generation by serial #. I can ID them by sight but am looking at buying one from individual that is a good distance from me. He does not understand the difference as I describe it. I have emailed Kel-Tec but no response yet. Thanks for any help.

here ya go
The most obvious difference is the screw holding the extractor. Here is alink to the KTOG (keltec owner group) list serve with the subject. You may have to do some cut and paste with the link if this server breaks it up.

In stockpiling SG P-3ATs for release to Distributors, Kel-Tec produced both generations side by side so the serial numbers are intermingled. As stated by Couzin, the Frankenstein bolt and external leaf extractor spring are the identifiers on the Second-Generation P-3ATs and P-32s. In the picture below, the SG P-3AT has a black grip and the FG P-3AT has a gray grip.

Call Kel-Tec 1-800-515-9983 with the serial number and they can tell you if it's a First or Second.

Thank you
I knwe one of you guys knew the answer. I finally got an email from K-T and they gave a full description of the CNC process that changed the different materials & some specs. The only thing they did not say was "no serial # division." A country boy needs simple answers. Thanks.
