Bottom line, I wanted "Made in the USA" stamped on it, not "Made in Croatia".
Even though it says that, it also says "Springfield Armory U.S.A.", so I am sure that the purchase of this gun benefits our economy: the Springfield Armory in the US, the American gun shop owners, the american gun accessories manufacturers and vendors, the American ammo manufacturers, the American shooting ranges owners, etc...

I look at it very differently. If I didn't buy this gun, I wouldn't have bought a small gun at all, and that would have had no positive effect for anyone... Whereas now I am buying all kinds of things from the AMERICAN businesses I wouldn't have been buying — all that just because I bought a gun "made in Croatia." Overall effect on the US economy — positive... Small, but positive. I have spent about $300 on this gun in less than a week after buying it. And that's that.

I think a lot of people would trust Hickock & he couldn't really decide between the Shield or XDs9:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think he's more accurate with the XDs though, hitting some long range targets more often than the Shield.
S&W M&P 40 Mid (EDC) - S&W Shields (his/hers) - S&W M&P .45C - S&W 4513TSW .45 (1st Gen, retired to nightstand)

Anderson AR15 pistol w/Aimpoint H1

Yes. I saw this one right before I bought the XDs - it was one of the deciding factors for me. I just can't understand why the grip on his XDs looks so strange... Absolutely nothing like mine. His loos too smooth...

Congrats. I didn't have any 9 before I bought the XDs either. I just wanted a little more capacity for a subcompact, or else I would have gotten the .45. The Shield was my send choice... I am trying to get my"lil' lady" to go shooting with me and get a CHL... So far, I got a tentative "yes," but my 10-year old is coming with me for the first time... I am gonna let him shoot a .22 for now.

For what it's worth - once I learned to keep it well lubed, I have never had a problem with it. The dry stuff didn't work. It wanted oil.

Yes. The Springfield armory instructs XDs owners to run it wet for 400-500 rounds. After that, they are saying, the maintenance becomes the same.

I went to the range this morning and shot off a couple of hundred rounds - it gives you such a feeling that you can't wait to go out and shoot it again. Thank God, I found cheap 9 mm rounds! It's a pleasure to shoot!
