Armed resident killed by police at wrong house. I think about this a lot and hope it never happens. I wonder if home invaders yells police as they kick my door down would I stand down. If I didn't do anything wrong and the police kicked my door down and identified theirself, I believe I would try to defend my house regardless. If the police got the wrong house and I killed the officer, I believe there would be a cover up and I would be screwed for life. This is one of my biggest fears.
I'm sad for the family and officer involved.

Re: My biggest fear
When are these reckless cowboys going to start being held accountable for their negligence?

I saw that today too. It's old. For whatever reason the Chronicle is running this story 2 months late.

Re: My biggest fear
Maybe I'm crazy but this doesn't even come close to the top of my biggest fears list (if I actually had such a list). I would be willing to bet you have better odds of winning the lottery than you do of something like this happening to you.

Re: My biggest fear
I'd agree that the odds aren't very good for this happening to me, but I've got to admit that these types of situations (maybe not to the T, but getting wrong addresses, poor intel, or just plain negligence type of conflicts) seem to be on the rise...... I mean I have heard more reports of this this year alone then I have my whole life. I thought about how I'd react but it would be different since we have a bunker up type home invasion plan vs a go get em plan. we also have the home alarm that would be blaring as well so that would add another wrench. 5-0 or not they'd still have to bust down the door before entering the room so my question would be would a LEO (after breaking in the front door causing the alram to go off) just announce themself and start busting down the door?

not a great fear -
great losses on both sides, greater law suits - no one wins in this situation
