This is an absolutely fascinating animated view of how a pistol works:

Jim-
Thanks for posting the link. I have spent more than a few minutes looking at that over the last year or so  It really is a awesome tool to use for learning or teaching.

From what I understand.......the gentleman that created that tried to sell it to Glock and they were not interested :ack: It looks much better than anything on their site.

And it's not only a great tool for demonstrating how a Glock operates, but it's also fantastic in helping to explain to another how a semiautomatic pistol works in general as well, especially since you can remove or view cut-aways of many of the components.

I spent more than a few minutes attempting to figure out how to save his Shockwave animation to my hard drive for reference, but gave up... I just hope his site doesn't go away!

So thaaats what happens!

You know...It all happens so fast I only have time to...

Squeeze off a few additional rounds to add to the excitement!

I know...I'm a goob...So what else is new...

I still think the animation is compelling...They did a really nice job on this!

We have a 3-D modeling program that we use to create the models for the machined parts we put into our systems here at N.O.V., it is really nice to have this for that purpose...

Might be neat to see if we can create another model of say...A 1911!!!

Woo Hoo! cool stuff!!!

You can download a screensaver of the 1911 that Kevin posted above, at the STI web site http://www.stiguns.com

I have it on my computer at work, and have seen engineers and especially designers just stop talking and drift off when they see it function.

BobCat,

I donwloaded the screen saver. Thanks.

But I get an error saying "Unable to register Shockwave Flash ActiveX control. Please close all other applications and try again."

Have you gotten that error?

That one was nice, but here's another one - I feel this one is a bit more "instructional" rather than "reference" like the one at sniperworld.

http://www.genitron.com/glock23/intglock.html

..and for those not favorable of the Glock, they have a Beretta 92FS as well :

http://www.genitron.com/IntPistol.html

...and even a S&W 66 revolver :

http://www.genitron.com/IntRevolver.html

Interesting site overall!

hi-power,

No, and I have to admit I don't know what it means. I think Shockwave and ActiveX are software - players for animations or something like that - but that's the limit of my knowledge.

Here's hoping you get it working right. It is a hoot - people who see the 1911 functioning seem hypnotized by it.

Regards,
Andrew

Shockwave Flash is an Adobe software product that adds into several web browsers.

It sounds like the screen savefr is using the Shockwave Flash ActiveX control. If you have Shockwave installed, you may need to adjust your security settings for the stiguns.com site in Internet Explorer.

Otherwise, you will probably want to install Shockwave Flash. (Click the name & then click Download Now in the Adobe site)

Try http://www.sniperworld.com/glock/loader_g17_ver_1_4.swf, then "file...save page as" in Firefox. The 'save as' doesn't seem to work in IE7 (yet another reason to use Firefox!)

I don't know if anyone has seen this one yet, but I thought I'd add a AR15 to the mix.
