What AR? I got a SIG M400. Is it an AR?, yes. However, I should call it AR++, as bonus, it has a Leupold VR on top.

That's a strange attitude, unless I'm missing some sarcasm...

I thought the same exact thing when I read it. I guess I missed the sarcasm too if there was any. I think the rolling eyes smiley confused me. If you seriously don't understand why someone would purchase one then you probably haven't shot one.

He said to wait a few weeks and more will start showing up again in the stores and the prices are already coming back down closer to normal. At least until the AWB looks closer to passing. My question is if you don't already own one, how long will it take you to stock up on the ammo to feel comfortable?
I really don't think there is going to be an actual ban, at least not as long as the Democrat Party doesn't have control of the House. However, barring that, I really don't know what else to expect, though. We do need the ammo situation to start improving. I just can't spend hours camped outside any given store waiting for the delivery truck to arrive.

And I used to think the same thing about healthcare as well.

i got lucky and bought a colt 6920 pre-crazy price, but post shooting from sportmans outdoor superstore. i actually order a 6720 and it ended up being out of stock so i ordered a 6920 and then about a week later a nice lady called me one saturday morning to apologise for the 6720 not being in stock and then said they just got a shipment of windhams in and she would sell me one of those before telling the public they have them. so i scooped it up and even save money since it was less than the 6720.

then one day i got in on a buy for a forged AR15 striiped lower that were actually in stock. so i decided to get in line at JSE for a 10" upper kit which includes the lower parts kit. The lower came in about a week and a couple weeks later the upper kit shows up and im now half way done with the lower. also found some 30rd tapco in dark earth so i got a couple of those and bought a pagpul moe plus grip and will be doing that on this AR pistol.

i love guns of all kinds, heck, i even use my kids airsoft occasionally to shoot a bug off the high ceiling or something.
but for now, im considering this AR stuff to be an investment. a really fun investment. i know at any time i can flip the stuff i currently have and make a little cash on the upside.. but really, if i broke even i would be happy. BUT, i doubt i will ever sell.. these guns are pure awesome.

I bought one a couple weeks ago. I hate to admit it, but I did pay a bit over what they used to go for. But I picked up a Daniel Defense, and it was the only place I've found that carries them and wasn't on at least a six month wait for them.

I had planned on starting to buy parts for one before this all started, but now, I'll just wait and keep enjoying my Mini-14. I may jump on a lower receiver if I see the prices come down a bit just to be sure I have one if they do somehow manage a new ban.

It sounds like folks are deciding that the high premiums that had been placed on some of those rifles aren't really worth it after all.
I think its because all the panic buyers have bought their outrageously inflated ARs already and the market is now glutted with new ones and oppurtunists still trying to cash in. There is only so many buyers available. The next time this panic cycle happens will probably be a few years down the road and you will have a new batch of panic buyers available. How many times have we seen this cycle? At the last GRB show I attended there were boatloads of overpriced ARs and not many were buying.

The only way this makes sense to me is if he's referring to the currently elevated prices. Otherwise, and "normal" pricing in effect, I can't understand why someone wouldn't buy one.

I've always preferred the less sinister look of my two Mini-14s. One scoped, one not, they serve my needs well.

I started building mine late summer, and thankfully finished it late November. $2600 or so later (before optics) I have a rifle that is fully custom and one that I know inside and out for the price people were actually paying for jacked up WalMart specials. I hope to get the chance to build a tack driver before Frankenstein gets her way :banghead:

I snagged a Rock River about 3 weeks ago at the pinacle of crazy prices. Paid about $150 over pre panic crazy prices but didn't have to wait as it was hanging at the wall of my LGS and range. Pretty happy with my purchase.

If anyone has a lead on lowers I'd appreciate a PM or link. I looked at the Delton link and there out of stock again. I've found a couple or polymer lowers but I'm for probably no good reason a little leery of those. I had a guy I work building me an AR before all hell broke loose and he decided to hold on to everything since he had not charged me yet once the poop hit the fan so I guess I'm going to have to build my own now.
