Thinking of a G26 gen 4 to trade my Xdm compact 9

#1

Post by daniel2002p »

Long story short I have two of the exact same firearm XDM Compact 9mm. My EDC is one of the XDMs and the other I barely broke in (500 rounds or so). I wanted to get a smaller EDC still in 9 and came across a G26.

I have not shot one yet as I don't know anyone with it and my range doesn't have that one rent.

Anyone have comments on the G26?

1)Treat firearms as if they are loaded. 2)Point the muzzle away from non-targets.
3)Keep fingers off the trigger until ready to shoot. 4)Be sure of your target and backstop.

the G26 is a good gun, but as you already have Springfields, why not try the XD9sub compact.
Same length or so as the G26, but in my hands, the Springfield felt much better

Of course, the other benefit, is you would have 2 guns that basically felt the same, the XDM and XDsc, with similar operations, take downs and simple feel

I would love a XDs but I want a 9mm not the 45. Every time I email SF cuts service I get the same response regarding them working on it. Just want something in the sub sub compact range (but not a big fan of the XD SC).

I bought a Gen 4 G26 for myself just before Christmas. It is now my new EDC. This is what I like about it:

Grip texture of the Gen 4.
Accuracy
Larger mag release on the Gen4
10 round standard magazine and available extended magazines (at least when I bought it extended mags were available).
Ease of shooting (recoil)
Grip-slide angle (I pick up the sights quicker than with my XD or my PPQ)
Trigger
Grip size fits my hand (no extra backstraps installed)
Good concealability.

But as always YMMV but I recommend you shoot one and see for yourself.

My Gen 4 G26 is my go-to carry gun. Never a bit of trouble from it. 10 +1 on-board, with a 15-round G19 or 17-round G17 mag as a spare.
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Not sure where you're located but Bullet Trap in Plano has the Gen 3 G26 for rent.
