I really do think that we've hit sort of a perfect storm with regard to ammo shortage: Christmas falling on a Tuesday, the anti's stirring up the pot with talk of banning everything/anything, and memories of AWB #1. I think that there's been some weather disruption in the north as well. So by next week or so, things should be back to normal. Gun makers & ammo suppliers have been running around the clock trying to keep up with demand. That's not likely to change in the near future.

Where are you located? Freedom Munitions opened a store in NW Houston (Highway 290 & Jones Rd) and they had plenty of 9mm yesterday: 115gr and 124gr both "new" and "remanufactured" as well as blasters. I overheard an employee talking to a customer saying that they're expecting another shipment this Friday.

I'm a bit disappointed to see that their prices at the store are slightly higher than on-line, but considering sales tax comes out less than their shipping & handling, it's kind of a wash...

Even with Feinstein's saber rattling?
The manufacturers have no incentive to ramp down. In fact, if they think onerous restrictions are coming, they have every incentive to ramp UP while they still can.

Why you need more than 16 rounds is beyond any reasonable mind. You already have an arsenal. :-)
Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

If I lived in California I would be a felon for having my Assault "Clips" for my glock.

This is what surprised me. I stopped by Academy last night for some since I promised my kid a trip to the range before school starts back up. They had some shot shells and some shorts but no LR. Of coarse, the 9mm was wiped out too. I asked the guy behind the counter and ended up with a box of 9mm that only had 49 in it, but I was happy to take it off their hands.

I was at Academy in Pasadena and Bass Pro Shops in Pearland on the 26th. Both were nada for 9mm. Both stores were also sparse on a lot of other product, which leads me to my conclusion that the shortage we're seeing right now is only temporary. Once we clear the mid-week holidays and this scarcity mentality cools off, the supply chain should be back to normal. And as others have noted, the online suppliers are thick with most of the major calibers.

29 in stock now (I have nothing to do with SGammo other than funding the owner's lifestyle ;-) ) I also bought 500 rounds of their 380 auto HP - only six of those left. I'm not panic buying, I'm stocking up. Now to find a deal on .40.
