Straybrit, I assume from your username that you too are British. Where did you come from? How long have you been here?
Mainly Yorkshire (for the benefit of our colonial cousins - Yorkshire is to the UK as Texas is to the US). Been in Texas for just under a year after 10 years in the Peoples Socialist Republic of California.

I have an XD 40 wich has fired over 10,000 rds through it. Never have any problems with it. Also have an XD9SC, just as accuract as my 40 and an awesome gun as well. I have delt with springfield on there costumer service side, true old school service. They stand behind the costumer and items.

I like the XDM so much i had to buy the XDS. Both are great guns, you can't go wrong. I know there have been some minor problems associated with the mag. release but other than that it is great! ( the release is hard to push in). What surprised me most was how easy they are to shoot, the XDS is the most accurate little gun i have ever shot. In the last week i have put 200 assorted rounds through it with out a problem. The sights are first class and pick up easy and fast on target. To make things even better Crimson Trace has a new laser that screws on the trigger guard. I have the same laser on a Keltec, it works great and is very compact.

30 min to disassemble, clean, stone, clean, lube and reinstall that mag release is all it takes to make it work very well.

It shot really well for me; I'd love one
:iagree: ...and had to get one. Not sure how it compares to the XDm Compact, but I will unequivocally recommend the XDs. It's replaced my usual 9s in the carry rotation -- no additional bulk and a much better caliber.
The Annoyed Man wrote:Well, it's a .45. What's not to love?
And the XDs doesn't have the recoil or sting that I was expecting out of such a small package. Don't get me wrong, 100 rounds down range and the aggressive checkering on the frame causes my hand to ache and I wouldn't call it a range toy, but it's no worse than the small/pocket 9s that I have. I'd also venture to say that it's equal to or more accurate than the same short barreled 9s. I'd expect the XDm Compact to be the same or even marginally better in both regards.

ETA: I've been so excited about it, I even recently changed my Avatar to reflect my new go-to EDC.

Hmmm... I've got an XDm 9mm, an XD45 Compact, my EDC is an XDs, my wife's EDC is an XDs, I've got and XDm 45 on the way. I guess that kinda sums up my opinion of the XD line.
I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.
