Walther corrected the slide stop issue sometime during 2010, so some of the BA's are the new slide stop, and some aren't. You also want to make sure you get model WAP10001 with the standard trigger. The model WAP10006 has the Mass. friendly heavier trigger. :thumbs2:

The PPS is my EDC and I absolutely love it!
September in 2010 (BA date code - check the spent casing for the date) was the last of the old slide stops. BA with October dates are with the new slide stops.
Yeah, the date code is probably why I haven't bought the used one at the Bullet Trap. That, and I don't think I've done enough hand-on research yet. Speaking of which, I'm off to Target Master...

I'll double-check its pocket-carryability before making up my mind. Most of my pants have pretty huge pockets, though. In fact one of my old pairs of jeans had front pockets big enough for a Glock 22, as long as I was just standing or walking. Sitting down did make it pretty obvious... :smilelol5:

This thread is quite timely. I have an LC9 and absolutely detest it. Its trigger did, finally, smooth out but it still has some stacking. It merely takes up space in my safe.
I also have a Sig 238. It seems ok as a BUG but I still would like to have a good 9mm to carry when my 1911s would not be appropriate attire.
I am considering either the Kahr or the PPS. I appreciate all of this discussion.

All this gnabber-gnoshing. I bet other folks have pondered this before.

Well all I can say is that the cm9 only weighs 16 ounces unloaded while the pps weighs 21.5 unloaded. It might not seem like much but it does add up in the size department. I think of the Walther PPS 9mm as a Glock 26 single stack with a better trigger imo. The PPS is nice to shoot and the cm9 has a little more bark to it being that it is smaller and less to hold on to but if your goal is JUST pocket carry and not hip or a range gun where you put over 300 down range in a day then the cm9 is better imo. Then again I only pocket carry as my backup. There is always one on my hip when in normal everyday attire. I can just draw quicker with hip carry no matter how much I try with pocket carry.

Edit: Also I have a glock 27 and I tried pocket carrying it once. Just to heavy imo. 10 rounds of 165-180 grain add up quick!

as much as I despise plastic guns, they do have their place. I have both the CW9 and it's little brother CM9, and love both for the niche they fill. I don't care for pocket carry, but on some occassions I do "boot carry", and the CM9 fits the bill perfectly. This past February for my CHL renewal I actually opted to use my CW9 rather than any of the others that I tend to shoot much better. I figured since the CW9 has gotten more "social carry time" than the Kimber or others in the last 3 years, I should be honest with myself and shoot what I carry most. I was more than pleased with a 240. I can't say that I shoot the CM9 as well as the CW9, but I have put very few rounds through the CM thusfar. Having gotten into revolver reloading I've spent most of my ammo budget on the "magnums" over the last couple of years.

As far as "wonder nines" go, make mine Kahr.

How similar are those two guns? Target Master had a CW9 for rent (which I really liked and was quite accurate with), but not a CM9 or PM9.

My PPS fits in my pockets just fine. Most of the time I carry OWB, but it works in the pocket too. And I'm a girl, so I don't have huge pockets.

actually they are very similar... the CM having about a half inch shorter grip (one less round in the standard mag) and a half inch shorter barrel. The half inch doesn't sound like much, but side by side it's pretty dramatic. As someone stated above, the CM9 is almost identical to the PM9.... mostly cosmetic or non-essential differences compared to the cost savings. Also, both the CW and CM can be fitted with night sights if one so desires. I installed the Trijicon night sights on my CW9 in January 2010, shortly after they came out. I'm planning on the XS BigDot front sight for the CM eventually....when I quit spending so much time with the wheel guns

I just bought a Kahr CM9 last week, shot it a bunch and have been carrying it. I'd consider it pretty much the largest gun that could still be classified as a "pocket" gun.

Overall it's very nice and very accurate.

EDIT: Oops, CM9, not CW9.

I carry a PM9 and have shot CW9 and CW45 at a few range sessions with friends. I find that the difference in recoil is not significant. As far as pocket carry, I can and do get away with pocket carry of the PM9, but only with the right pants. The larger you are and the stiffer your pant material, the easier it will be to pocket carry in my opinion. I could not pocket carry comfortably in wool dress slacks for instance because they are thin and while the printing would only show a big lump like a thick wallet in the front pocket, it would be uncomfortable because it would slap around on your thigh while you walked. Contrast that with heavier weight cotton dungarees or cargo pants or shorts. I have no issues pocket carrying with those. For me, I'm too small to pocket carry with jeans (or my jeans are too fitted or whatever). The pocket opening isn't big enough in my case with the jeans I wear to pocket carry any pistol.

I've held the Walther also, and did not like it as well, but that will just depend on the individual as far as how things fit in your hand. The G26 is way too bulky for me to pocket carry, but someone larger than I am may have no problem.

I'm 5'-11", 168lb btw.

The PPS is 19.4 oz.

Not to quibble over 2oz but I count the weight of the gun with the mag. When are you not going to have a mag in the gun when carrying? Grain of ammo will of course effect weight but with the mag it is about 21.5oz to start out.

For pocket carry my vote goes to the kahr. The pm9 will not be a fun range gun but it is not meant to be a fun gun to shoot.

If its a small pocket gun you want look no further than kahr pm/cm9
It's slim and easy to operate, does require a really good break in to be reliable
