Made a decision -

I'm going to order the Laure PredatAR

...but I want a 14.5 LW bbl, and have a Surefire MB556K pinned and fixed. I also want the hand guards gut down to about 12" instead of the 14.75".

For optics, I currently have an Aimpoint Comp ML3 in a tall Larue mount. I'm either keeping it and adding the Aimpoint 3x mag, or going move to a T-1/H-1 micro...I'm undecided but have time.

Hopefully it will be in my hand in < 6 wks time. I'm going to call Laure tomorrow.

Reasons to go this route:

Larue has top quality gear, some of the best IMHO
Laurue is a Texas company
Larue has the absolute best reputation for standing behind their gear
The PreadatAR is a top quality rifle that is super lightweight, ready out of the box, and under $1500 (possibly less with LE discount)

Can't fault that decision.

Good choice. I'd use that or a Sig 716 any day.

Very nice rifle. I noticed you went with a non-chromed barrel and all that. Do you not plan on putting that many rounds through it? Was it more the weight that swayed you to this rifle versus the RUC? I wonder how much lighter than that 6.25 pounds it will be when you get the shorter barrel and shorter guards?

Good luck on that, lead time on normally configured rifles is around 20 weeks right now, no telling what the timeline on a custom rig will run.

Yup. Heard back today. And they won't do it. PredatOBR is heavier than I want. Changing gears and looking at a BCM Recce 14. For around $1300, it's looking like a solid follow up choice, though I'll loose out on the LW bbl. I have an e-mail out to them to see if I can get the LW bbl, Surefire MB55k, and no mags.

I know what you mean. I don't know how that guy up in KS got what I was looking for in the short time he did. It was less than two weeks from the time I contacted him to when I walked into his shop. He didn't have "my rifle" when we e-mailed and said he's only gotten in 4 days before I came in.

You may just have to order and wait. Sorry. Have you at least decided on something someone will actually make for you?

The hitch is the 14.5 LW barrel. Most built guns will be 16. My LGS has a Daniel Defense M4V7 but not the LW. Close...

Good price too.

I emailed DD seeing if I can order one like that. If not, I may end up doing an upper/lower pairing.

I didn't realize the 14.5 inch barrel was that big of a problem as long as the flash hider was permanently affixed to reach the 16 inch mark.

I feel ya! I ordered/paid for a Remington 700 84205 on 4/02/12 and they haven't even started rolling off the assembly line yet. :totap:

It's not an NFA problem - it is more of a keeping it simple thing while they try and meet demand.

Well, if I would have ended up going the RUC route I would have ordered the RUC14.5 with the pinned flash hider and just suffered the wait. I hope you are able to find something soon and don't have to wait too long to get it.

I came across this again searching for something else.

What's the latest GigAg? Have you ordered or received your rifle yet?

My friend just put together a 14.5" noveske barrel with a ML gas system. rock river upper and lower. noveske bolt carrier/bolt. Runs great and sweeps well. I think I am going to build one much like it.
