Stopped by SWFA today

#1

Post by v-rog »

I've been looking to upgrade my Nikon rifle scope on my Tikka T3. I went to SWFA and traded my Nikon Buckmaster, a Remington 597 w/ Simmons 22 mag scope, and my old set of Talley rings. I couldn't believe it when they offered me $290 credit toward a purchase. I'd been eyeing a used Leupold 30mm VXR illuminated 4-12 X 40 rifle scope for $489. I decided to get it and add another set of Talley rings for my Tikka T3 .308. With the rings, my part was $251. Here are the pics (not the best quality):

I can't say enough about SWFA's customer service. I Highly recommend them. :thumbs2:

I agree. I've been in there a few times over the years. They gave me a trade in value of $480 on a used Burris XTR 3-12x50 Tactical when I bought my SWFA 5-20x50HD Tactical.

I looked at their scopes and I like them. They have a new reticle that looks great.

It's in Red Oak, right off of I-35.

My 5-20x50HD has that reticle. It's actually their design, with patent pending. It has red illumination with 11 brightness settings (yes, "mine goes up to 11" ). Also, the mil "dots" are actually small diamond shaped lines with a central aiming dot inside the diamond.

My only complaint is that at the highest levels of illumination some of the red light starts to bleed out of the lines and into the target picture. But, you don't really need the highest levels of illumination when it is really night outside, and the "bleeding" isn't that big of a problem in low light because the medium levels are plenty bright enough.

Also, they have a 1-4X version of their HD tactical scopes which has two different versions of an illuminated reticle, which are both more suited to the CQB role, and would compare favorably to the ACOG in the same role as the ACOG.
