Rate Your Concealed Carry Handgun

Not too excited about this. The part I really have a hard time swallowing is the "Knockdown Factor"
"Knockdown Factor is the ability of a cartridge, all other things being equal, to knock down an assailant with one well-placed shot. We've ranked some of the most popular personal defense loads from lightest to heaviest on a 400 point scale. Find your load on the chart below and record the score."
I pretty much believe virtually all calibers including BB guns can have "knockdown" with "one well placed shot". One in the eye from just about anything will do it. I thought the idea of "knockdown" had died out. I'm a firm believer in placement and penetration. If that is what they meant then just about any one of the rounds listed, especially in the bottom half or so will do the job just as well as the next. A 9mm to the heart is not going to be any better or worse than a .45 to the heart.
I don't know. This whole ranking thing just doesn't set with me. I'd like to know their sources and where they got their numbers. Not that it would matter a whole lot. It really wouldn't change how I feel about the ranking system. It just rubs me the wrong way and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe I'm overwhelmed by its absurdity in helping "you best select your concealed carry handgun match."
To their "credit" do put in weasel words like "used as starting point", etc.
Pick a caliber you can handle, a gun you like, and practice. Speed and accuracy will follow. And personally I believe just about anyone can shoot just about any "normal" caliber with enough practice.

Yeah, its silliness! All things being equal, assailant, shot placement, firearm, etc etc. the larger diameter, heavier, faster bullets work better. That is if you can just take out the human factor. I am not even going to discuss it's ranking on "knock down power".

Only one 3.5" Defender 1911 on the list?????
Good to see my Ruger SP101 (#3) ranks right up there with the Glockers!

Re: Rate Your Concealed Carry Handgun
The whole concept is flawed in my opinion. The first two "ratings" Time to First Hit and Accuracy are totally dependent on the shooter, not the firearm. Two people firing the exact handgun can end up with completely different scores. At best it is a relative score, how better you shoot one firearm versus another. If two shooters were to shoot two different guns, it is possible for one shooter to get a better score with gun #1 while the other might score better with gun #2. I'm not even going to address the "knockout power" score. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

Interesting, though, that neither of the top Glocks are .45's, the top rated ammo. I guess my EDC gun is off the chart!

if it doesn't start with a "Five", you might not stay alive. Would you trust your life to anything less than a .50 cal?

Re: Rate Your Concealed Carry Handgun
Since its based on how well Larry shoots the gun, it's all pretty subjective anyway
