Top Shot Season 4 Contestants

#1

Post by Jumping Frog »

Well, they've posted promotional photos of the Top Shot Season 4 contestants. Two of the 18 contestants have their finger on the trigger. :banghead:

Both are police officers, they should obviously know better.

Colin Gallagher - trains new recruits

Eric 'Iggy' Keyes - narcotics detective and SWAT officer.

With his Narco background, great trigger finger discipline, and the body part he favors aiming by when holding his weapon at low ready he will be a shoo-in for the DEA.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I even yelled at the TV last night when Tim Allen did it on Last Man Standing with a 1911. Not sure how much he knows about guns, but he seemed very comfortable when he sat down at his desk and popped the mag out and set it down.

I drill that in during my CHL classes, we talk about it in class and lots of guys laugh and say they would never do that. Then when we go to the range, I am yelling "Index, INDEX INDEX" till everyone gets their finger off the trigger. After the second time I'll call names so everyone knows who keeps holding up the show. I won't let them start a string till they are all indexed.

Funny thing is, the guys that laughed about it in class are the same ones that do it on the range.

I figured out a long time ago that it is likely caused by bad muscle memory created when we were little boys running around all day shooting at each other with water pistols and cap guns. We have hundreds if not thousands of hours logged in running around like that without anyone correcting us. It takes great effort to create a "new" (to some) muscle memory of staying off of it.

I know guys that will do it with an empty gun and when I bitch they get irritated and say "It's EMPTY". :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It's a battle.

Thanks for pointing them out. We'll have to wait and see if we hear of a ND on the show.
Carry safe and carry when and where you can. I'm just sayin'.

I could only watch a few episodes of season one, the guy running it, seems to me to much like a punk that needs a comes a Jesus talk. I dislike folks that stand in the parade position with their hands on their hips, like they are the gift to the world

and then these guys were there to demonstrate SKILL, not how well they played in the sandbox

but these two new guys scare me. first guy looks like he is 12, with a chip
second guy looks like a street thug, real shoe in for dea :clapping:

but the junk sales advertising and people watch it,

I got my wife the book "Chicks with Guns" for Christmas (which she LOVED, by the way). Almost without exception, the only ladies in the book with their fingers on the trigger are those who either are in LE, former LE, or are married to/come from an LE family. I just don't get it.

We enjoy Top Shot for what it is at my house. The kid that won the last season seemed like he was just a really good guy with a gift. Amazing talent. I like the show because (to me) it doesn't perpetuate a lot of the stupidity I see on TV in regard to guns (Sons of Guns I'm looking at you...) but I will say that that host Colby and his overly-bleached teeth need to find a new gig.

Texas is represented by a Houston boy, I hope he does well. Maybe it's my imagination but looking at the pictures of the two woman I wonder if they were chosen for sex appeal to glamorize the series. I am not trying to be sexist, ladies, I just know television is about getting the most viewers and the photos they have on the website are .....well I'll let ya'll be the judge. I would enjoy seeing a female "Top Shot".

They both seem pretty legit after reading their bios. One shot in the Sydney Olympics, Pan-Am Games, and South American Games, (3 gold medals) and the other has been trained in the military and is currently an MP with the Border Patrol.

On the other hand, two of the guys are considered amateurs. One is an IT Professional in CA and the other is a high school custodian in NY. Both self-taught.

The host of Top Shot is Colby Donaldson who is originally from Cristoval Tx which is a town just South of San Angelo. I have met him and he is a very nice person. I know how he may come across on television, but he represented Texas well in "Survivor" and in my opinion, continues to represent in Top Shot as well...

To be clear I wasn't questioning their shooting credentials. I just wondered if they were the most "glamorous", for lack of a better word, of the female applicants and chosen to attract viewers.

No, not at all. By all means go for it! I'd love to see us grandfolk represented. I certainly don't have the eyes, much less the ability

My wife and I both really like to watch the series. It's certainly better entertainment that a lot of TV..except that last year there was WAY too much drama for my taste.

This season, on History2, the night after Top Shot they're running a show called Top Guns that's supposed to be a more in-depth behind the scenes show about the actual rifles and other guns they use on Top Shot. It starts tonight...hope it's worth watching.

:cheers2:
