My wife tries but seems to just miss what I want for Christmas. After years of getting video games and cooking tools, we did the lets just get us something together for a couple years. Last year was a stainless convection oven. 2011 was a big spending year. Wife got a new car and went back to grad school. I ended up having to keep the kids two nights a week while she was in class. She wants to buy separate gifts this year. I've been dropping hints, ie leatherman wave, ESEE-4 with molle attachments, reloading starter kit, Eagle Ar chest rig, Arsenal SLG21 etc I like to give a range of options. However, I will most likely get a Xbox Kinect, Kindle or Ipad. My wife loves technology.

Yep when the kids and wife ask me what I want I say a shotgun, that raises eyebrows, then I say or a Academy Gift Certificate would work too. My Birthday is in January so hopefully I'll have enough to get a HD Shottie!

Andy and Karder, sorry for y'all's losses. I lost my chocolate lab, Bear, in 2007 and he is resting on a hill in our pasture looking over our house. I still carry his dog tag on my key chain. A good friend sent me this poem, which seemed to help, as I hope it may with you all, as well:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our
special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of
food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life
but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Back to topic...seems I now have a whole slew of good ideas for attaining that perfect gift. :txflag:

But man, what if she's not lying! She sure can mess with me around Christmas time. Anyone else possible getting something cool for Christmas?
Hedge your bets. Buy some nice jewelry or something else she really likes. Wrap it but keep the receipt. If she was telling the truth, reward her with a nice surprise. If she was naughty, return it and use the money to buy a gun. :evil2:

Phone rang late yesterday afternoon. I had just gotten home and wife was not home yet. Caller ID said Harley Davidson of N. Texas.

Me: hello
caller: May I speak with Diane
Me: She is not home yet, this is her husband, may I take a message
Caller: Well, uh, hum, uh, could you tell her her order will be ready for pick up at 9:00 am tomorrow.
Me: okay, I will le her know.

Move forward 1/2 hour when she gets home:
Me; HD called
Her (with deer in the headlite look): and?
Me: Your order will be ready for pick up at 9 tomorrow. What did you order?
Her: None ya (as in none ya business)
Me: Do I need to go get something for you tomorrow.
Her: Nope, got it handled. What do you want for dinner?

Had to go to the garage to check but all of the bikes are in place. (hmm, maybe that new soft tail maybe

So yes they are evil at this time of year. :evil2:

I had a good quarter, so I bought my wife 8 china place settings to complete her set. Why did I buy her that? Oddly enough, 8 place settings are the same price as the Sig 229 that I want.
