I am much more comfortable drawing from open carry with a loaded gun, but thats not an option at the moment.
I don't see how CC vs OC affects the risk of an AD/ND.

Don't pull the trigger until sometime after the muzzle's cleared you leg.

Specifically, keep your trigger finger along the slide/upper frame rather than relying on the trigger guard to keep you from squeezing one off prematurely. I've gotten in the habit of keeping mine flat along the side of the frame. IIRC, Ayoob recommends making your trigger finger into a hook shape like you're about pull the trigger, but keep the tip of said finger on the frame near the take-down lever (at least where it is on his gun) so that you can just lower your trigger finger and it will naturally slide onto the trigger.

I also carry a Glock 19 occasionally. The Springfield XD and Glock type guns with offer no real safety in my opinion. Any accidental moderate contact with trigger with fire the weapon as my limited(unloaded gun) drawing from concealment practice has proven. Trigger safeties are not safe at all.

They are fine guns but any real safeties are lacking.
If you like a traditional safety in a .45 -- like on a 1911 -- that positively prevents the gun from firing, take a look at the M&P. You can get them with a safety.

Those Holster always have worried me. They especially make me nervous with a new shooter at IDPA. Outcome would have been many times worse if that was a HP. Scary stuff to say the least.

Practicing and participating in the DFW IDPA club matches is helping me to be aware of my trigger finger when I handle my firearms.

I saw the Tosh.O show on it. He didn't make us look good, if you can imagine.

By the way, he's from Illinois and calls himself "Tex". Enough said.....
