Oh don't blame ya on that, just more of a novelty. AMT ~seems~ to be a pretty nice gun. Smaller than the Kahr but not by a whole lot. Still betting it won't be fun to shoot...but even less fun to be on the receiving endspeedsix wrote:...Semmerling's too expensive for most mortals...and is not a semiauto, either...that much money and I ain't gonna manually shuck it... http://pistolsmith.com/vintage-pistols/ ... -45-a.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I love my LCP, its like american express. never leave home without it. I got a tiny Fobus paddle holster for it and clip it on. even on gym shorts, it will cover with a tee shirt. I shoot it alot, and dont find it unpleasant at all.

The lcp is a fine weapon, you made a good choice. Put a crimson trace on it and it just makes it better.

Pick up a +1 magazine extender at http://www.impactguns.com/impact-ruger- ... ion-1.aspx. It's cheap, gives you an extra in the mag, plus it completely transforms the gun. Instead of barely getting two fingers on the grip, you'll be able to get three fingers securely. Since it's got a lot of "oomph" because of the light weight, this extra control really comes in handy.
I changed the springs out (don't recall the Wolff weight, but it was the one recommended at elsiepeaforum); this plus the grip makes the recoil manageable. Prior to this, it wasn't fun to shoot. It's much more enjoyable now (although I still don't shoot it a lot -- it's really not a range gun).

I love my little LCP...I do carry it as a Primary in the South Texas heat alot of times when I'm running around Corpus in Cargo shorts and a tank top...That said I've put hundreds of rounds thru it and can shoot it very accurately. Let the big gun guys say what they want...The first thing to ALWAYS remember is...Have a gun! I load mine with Hornady critical defense ammo.
I do carry my 45 XD compact too when the mood strikes me.....

Practice Practice its a very long trigger pull. Thats my big complaint with this gun. I painted my sight yellow BIG help. The reason I kept mine is its my gun that a grab, put in pocket and dont worry about scratches or anything. I like having a gun that I dont have to baby or worry about and this is the one. Its a great BUG.

I'll give it a try! Thankswoodsong wrote:Pick up a +1 magazine extender at http://www.impactguns.com/impact-ruger- ... ion-1.aspx. I'll consider it when I am comfortable spending more money.Sputz wrote:The lcp is a fine weapon, you made a good choice. Put a crimson trace on it and it just makes it better.
I can't wait to get to the range to practice! I can see why you say it's a long trigger pull. On a larger gun, that might be an issue for me, but it seems kinda natural with a gun this small.Keith wrote:Practice Practice its a very long trigger pull. Thats my big complaint with this gun. Interesting advice on painting the sight, I'll have to think about that.
I would like this to be a "grab-and-go" gun, but I'll need some way of protecting the trigger as I want to keep one in the barrel. So far I've found it difficult to rack the slide if my hands are a little sweaty (which would be very likely if my adrenaline was pumping). This would probably be the one gun I don't mind scratches on.
It's 3/4 of an inch bigger in height and length. I wanted the smallest and least-expensive (not "cheap") gun. I would have liked a 9mm (my other two handguns are 9mm), but to get one that's almost as small, it would be double in price. I'm happy with Ruger LCP .380 so far (haven't shot it yet), so no buyer's remorse here.speedsix wrote:...take it back and get a 9mm...(you asked...don't kill the messenger)...
...I held the new Ruger 9mm subcompact...don't like it, won't buy one, but it's concealable and slim...and much more potent...

Thank you all

Re: Just bought a Ruger LCP .380 Any Advice?
Use Uncle Mikes pocket holster, not sure of the size. Was one listed for small auto. Want to say it was #2, but don't hold me to that. I love mine, it's great as a BUG.
Re: Just bought a Ruger LCP .380 Any Advice?
You will see when u shoot it. The trigger pull is so long that my trigger finger hits my thumb so I have to hold my thumb up like the Fonz or it wont go bang. I would never be worried about that gun going off with one chambered as I do. I use a IWB holster when I carry her or cargo pocket on shorts.

I suggest that you look at the Recluse line of pocket holsters. Mine gets a lot of use and has held up well.

If you want to keep it local I'd recommend giving Doug at bear creek holsters a call. http://www.bearcreekholsters.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I carry my Seecamp in his back pocket holster everyday and have found it to be a very well built holster from a great maker. I've got a mag pouch from him and it is top shelf as well.

Re: Just bought a Ruger LCP .380 Any Advice?
Alright! Range report time.
I finally took it shooting today. Here are the results:
I first shot 32 rounds of Independence 380 AUTO 90 gr. FMJ 5262. It jammed 5 times (3rd, 10th, 23rd, 29th, and 30th bullets), each time the casing that was being ejected caught on the next bullet.
Next, I shot 21 rounds of Remington UMC 380 AUTOMATIC 95 GR. MC L380AP. Flawless.
Lastly, I shot 7 rounds of Winchester Supreme Elite 380 AUTO 95 GR. JHP Bonded PDX1. Had a little more kick, also flawless.
So, I don't think I'll ever buy Independence brand ammunition (I was finishing someone else's box).
I didn't really mind the long trigger pull - I didn't really notice it as I was shooting. I let someone else shoot it, and they noted how she didn't like the long trigger pull. Also, it made her hand hurt where her thumb connects to her hand. She has a better aim than me , and she noted how it is more accurate than the Sig Sauer P238 that she was also shooting.
Now to get a holster!
