Starting to love Glocks

Hello.

Most of you know I am a fan of the 1911 (that will never change). However, I have started a new job, part-time at a gun store that is an authorized Glock dealer. Part of the job requires me to become very familiar with Glocks and their parts.

One of the first things I had to learn was how to properly and completely strip down a Glock to it's individual components right down to the tiny little springs and rebuild it without any parts left over.

The more I am exposed to this simple yet fascinating firearm, the more I am beginning to appreciate it. I can seriously see myself carrying a Glock soon as my EDC. The only problem is figuring out which one.

P.S. One of the perks of working at a gun store is the ability to open carry. My Kimber is loving it.

Glocks are truly a work of engineering genius close to (but IMHO not equaling) the genius of JMB.

They are ingeniously simple and incredibly durable and reliable. They are a "can't go wrong" first gun for anyone who can manage to keep his trigger finger off the bang switch until it needs to be there.

USA1, I know it almost pains you to admit this. You've taken the first and hardest step though.

There is a lot to recommend Glocks, particularly from the KISS standpoint. Few parts, simple operation and takedown, ease of maintenance, etc... I have only two issues with them in comparison to some others -- they are plain to the point of being ugly, and the M&P fits my hands better (SR, XD and FNP(X) too for that matter). I have an M&P for carry and also for range/training use and don't plan to change any time soon. That said, I would not hesitate to use a Glock if the need arose.

Yeh, kinda shocked me too.
But like USA1, I prefer the 1911. I just like the idea of the extra, safety, side of the design. I trust myself, but like they say, stuff happens. I just don't want it to happen on my watch.
Guess that is why I like the Beretta Storm. Even though it is wide and bulky.

What I like about Glocks is that I can find any part (except for the frame) online and fix it myself. There is no need to send it off and most parts are inexpensive.

I was not a Glock fan for a long time. I did not love or hate them. I had no opinion. Somehow, I spent the first 10 years of my adult (21+) life without ever even picking one up. Once I was finally introduced to them, I was hooked. I now own a few and the G26 is my EDC.

Nothing wrong with loving them both, I have 22 Glocks and 3 1911s (4 if count the 22 version) .
