I like to detail strip mine and clean the extractor and firing pin channel. I'm always amazed at how dirty it gets after a couple hundred rounds of reloads. I think the lead lube plays into that though.

I do the same with the slide. It takes very little time and goes a long way toward making sure every firing pin strike is solid and the extractor works every time.Sniper-man wrote:I like to detail strip mine and clean the extractor and firing pin channel. I only disassemble the frame about once a year, but I flush it out with GunScrubber or a similar product whenever I see residue accumulating inside in places that aren't readily wiped clean.
