Agree 100%. I would like one of these because it uses the same mags as my EDC.

Also, IMHO, anyone who would leave a gun unsecured in a car is not thinking the process through. I have said it before, but getting your gun stolen out of your car is a bad day, interrupting the guy stealing the gun out of your car could be your last day.
I love mine, and I would probably get rid of most of my other firearms before I got rid of it. I'd like to pick up another one for my wife, since she is disgustingly accurate and comfortable with it and keeps trying to steal mine!

Wouldn't most situations put you behind the steering wheel inside the vehicle...parking lot, double jam-in at a remote stop sign/intersection, road rage crazy following you to a stopping point, etc? The odds of actually needing a firearm in a vehicle are probably a whole lot greater that you'll need it in just a few short seconds while still inside the vehicle.
That's what my carry gun is for. ;)

I have less than $200 in this gun so far, but still have a few things that I plan on doing with it. I plan on having the threading of the barrel & receiver machined to be interrupted so allow a much quicker connection, adding some high visibility sighting, & I am working on a way to leave the magazine tube loaded while it is disassembled.
Huh? Not sure how feasible a shotgun for a "car" gun.

It depends what you mean by car gun. What's it for? Does it replace on-body carry? Does it mitigate an access problem with your EDC while seated? Does it provide supplemental firepower if you need more gun than your EDC? Is it part of your survival kit if you break down in the middle of nowhere? Something else?

Different people can have different reasons for having a car gun, so it makes sense that different problems lead to different solutions.
When in doubt

How about a Winchester 94, in .357 magnum? Those are short, light, decent firepower and pretty easy to carry. Leverguns, probably in .30-.30, used to be on the back window of every pickup truck you saw when I was growing up in the hill country, a long, long time ago.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

...excellent choice, that or the Marlin equivalent...I like the .357 and .44 both...

You're not the "J Allen" of J Allen Enterprises in Yorba Linda, are you? If so, I would like one of your M14 stocks for Christmas please.

I think there is definitely a place for an abbreviated long gun in a vehicle, whether it is carried on a gun-rack or in a duffle bag. In an all out gunfight, a handgun is what you use to fight your way back to the long gun you should have never put down. BUT........

......a long gun does not replace a handgun for vehicle use. Access to a handgun is likely to be far easier. It will be far easier to maneuver a handgun inside the confined space of a vehicle. Both are features which make it the preferable first line of defense when driving......if guns become necessary. Hopefully, the gas pedal and a few judicious steering moves would come before guns become necessary.

what is the best way to secure a Kel-Tec sub in a car, yet easy for you to access it quickly?

Mine sits in a laptop case on the seat next to me, partially unzipped. It comes in with me at night. I could justa as easily tuck it under the front seat, under the fold-down center console in my truck, or in the center console. Now that I think about it, I bet that, folded, it would probably fit in the plastic pocket on the door.
